Tunnel Incident

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure too much should be read into it Robbo.

Rumours are circling in high number but none of them would stand up in court so I wouldn't worry.

From when I have met Liam he is approachable and friendly to talk to, the only time I have seen him get aggresive is on the touchline and at a preseason training session one of the players didn't have the right kit.

However I do have friends that have had a falling out with him over criticism of his tactics and he has been most unfriendly to them.

I don't have any wheel to spin or soapbox to jump on, I can only speak as I find.

At the end of the day, unless anything comes of it, does it really matter.Chances are was at the worse handdbags and the very best a few words. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

I was sitting behind our directors. The "incident" was sparked by a number of people in the Grays Directors box rather provocatively (imho) and loudly calling out congratulations to the referee when it was obvious that Liam was unhappy with his performance. Most vocal were an aesthetically challenged woman & a bald/shaven headed man.

The man leaned over the rail as Liam was passing & (again imho) tried to goad him. When Liam turned to ask him who he was talking to, he replied "You, you mug!" Liam did not stop to confront him. The exchange was all in passing. A number of people around me commented to the effect that this was not appropriate behaviour for a club director. I replied, less sensibly perhaps, that his Essex heritage might have something to do with it.

Nothing happened in the tunnel as far as I am aware. I was one of a large group who went down the steps from the stand in front of the bald gent & Liam was already in our dressing room when I reached the entrance to the tunnel.

Sorry to have bored you Robbo, but I assumed that the forum catered for any polite enquiries, even from boring people like me.
I'm off to check my stamp collection.

It's just that someone else posted the same after the game with Stevenage couple of weeks ago. And I wouldn't put it past some of the sad old gits on here to start rumours to try and unsettle our failing manager. I wasn't implying that you're boring, just the person that's made out a fight in the tunnel when by most accounts there was only a few words shouted.

I'd heard the Stevenage incident was started by some very unpleasant things shouted at the Fleet bench from one Boro individual and there was little blame to be apportioned to any Fleet officials.
