Jeff King Rumours

Im not here to stir things up just a couple of things that dont really work for me in this whole thing.

Jeff King is the undisputed leader of Canvey, no questions asked he is the reason you are where you are and he has complete control over a Conference side.

Now Chelmsford may have a ground (that in my opinion is everything a football ground should not be) and a fan base but there is no way that Jeff king is going to manage to get a controlling stake there like he has here.

For one they do not require his financial backing because the club is pretty much run by the income they recieve from the turnstyles and the ground is council owned.

So if Jeff King does go to Chelmsford it will only be for a part controlling stake in a club, will he do that???

As a manager his job is safe for life at Canvey, if he goes to Chelmsford will they want him, Craig Edwards for me is a very capable manager and even if Jeff King goes in as a board member he may find it hard to get rid of CE and install himself as manager, and even then his job is not 100% safe as it is at Canvey.

A merge for me would be out of the question also, your a fair distance apart and I can not understand the link.

As for your crowd problems what can you do ?????

If you change where Grays are to where you are I guarentee the results will be reversed, thats the sort of area this is.

Fans follow success and winning games, you had more fans when you were winning week in week out in the ryman than you do now, but its not your fault, the players fault or Jeff Kings.

Its only your second season in the conference, I believe the process is a marathon not a sprint its still a learning curve for all involved.

Maybe if things do look Grim the fans and board should have a meeting to discuss these problems and see where you stand and where to go from here.

Just a thought

Some good thoughts there thanks.

Yes, seeing your team win more games week in week out is more satisfying and probably something that would attract more fans just on it’s own. But then again, some people probably don’t appreciate the better football generally from both sides at this level.

We have short as well as long term issues.

The important short issue is that the Kings perhaps just won’t want to continue ploughing the money in to sustain the club and the only way to help out is thinking of ways to increase the fanbase, or include some other source to fund.

If the survival of the club at this level is meant to be a long term issue then I wouldn’t of thought we can rely on Park Lane to provide a suitable setting for this standard of football (probably going to upset a few with that!). Not the end of the world but we aren’t even allowed to qualify for the LDV (something we have not done before) as our ground does not come up to standard.

As already mentioned in the other thread, believe the only way forward is to get that new stadium built. “Hopefully” that won’t be a gamble and perhaps the result would be known if some sort of survey was conducted to find out other potential fan’s appetite if this was to happen. Even when asked however, I wonder how many would be able to imagine and picture a new stadium at Waterside.

If none of the above is possible then perhaps a solution to keep the club going is to sell the high wage earners, drop down a level or two, but would Jeff want to keep things going at that level rather than experiencing things in the top flight of non league where we are now. A question only he would know.

There is a hell of a lot of [****!!****], (for now) on the Isthmian fans site about this. In fact I think every other thread on there is dedicated to it.

All seems to be eminating from the Dagenham area though!

Fu*k Dagenham. What do they know?

Good points there, Stimmo. All this talk of moving is just nonsense as i've been saying all along. Moving to Chelmsford? Jeff working with that pri*k Edwards? Kingy not being in full control? Kingy just abandoning us, leaving a club in the lurch after all those years getting the club to where it is?

Absolute bollo*ks if you've been watching Canvey for more than 5 years because then you'd understand why its absolute bollo*ks.

So has everyone that's read this forum, Chelmsford's forum, Isthmian Fans, ConfGuide, Dagenham's forum... get the picture?

Just relax and wait for an official comment. Then we'll deal with what is announced in due course.

Cool. THEN we can panic. At the moment I'm relaxed and more concerned that we didn't beat Tamworth today. Still, it could be worse, we could be about to loose our backer!

But there is just way too much smoke to see the fire at the minute.
