I couldn't believe how much better we were last night than we've been in ages. We created at least 5 really good chances, some of which I've managed to record. Yes the swift capitulation brought us down to earth, but with last night's spirit (something so sadly missing recently) I'm confident we'll pick up some points again. And to be honest I couldn't see where the next one was coming from after Saturday's showing.

 

Anyway, here's the clips. Apologies for my twin brother going absolutely insane on the soundtrack of our goal. Poor chap really thought we were going to win it at that point.

Why did we only have 3 in the wall for their free kick? Missed their 2nd because it took me by surprise (a bit like our defence.) Didn't get their 3rd because I'd stopped filming, convinced they were yards offside. Wish I'd been filming for Steve M's dismissal. Looked like nothing to me.

Au contraire - it was a nasty studs-up challenge as far as I could see, so it's not hard to see why the ref produced a red.

Would that be an allusion to the fact that he's booked eight and sent off one of our players in the two Fleet games he's refereed this season?

 

It was a red last night in my view though - with a three-match suspension to follow, of course, on top of all the injuries at present.

Actually, the FA website suggests it's a one-match ban. Given the fact that it was a straight red, though, surely the ref considered the challenge serious foul play, which carries an automatic three-match suspension?

 

EDIT: Oops - underneath it says it is three matches. Silly me.

From where I was standing, it looked more like the grays player was in the wrong:- It seemed that he kicked Macca!

According to my mate, James, Macca Studded the Grays'player in the thigh.

He was a bit high, not helped by the fact it was in front of the dugouts and pretty much all the Grays players ran to start pushing and gesticulating - fair play to Steve for just going down the tunnel and not reacting.
