What is going on with the tannoy anoouncements these days? Last night we were not given our scorer and people around me were asking each other whether it was Knight or Ziepe who came on as sub. No disrespect to Nicky Canham as he seems to have been dropped into the position but there was not enough information given out.

The reason for this seems to be the decision to give live match commentary over the internet. This is a good idea for those who cannot make it but it should not be to the detriment of those who have paid to attend the game. Those who stayed at home and listened even found out the players for the Syko Challenge before those who had gone along and put money into the club.

Does anyone know the players who are available for the syko challenge ?

Unfortunately I had an impossible job of trying to see who scored or who the subs were. Clearly if the people around you didn't know, how was I going to be able to tell! The subs' sings only seem to be stuck up for a few secs and never in the direction of the Hartsdown End. I will make a point of asking in future for the officials to direct them in the direction of the PA Hut, but I can't guarantee that it will be done.

 

I took the view that it was better not to make any announcements rather that talking utter rubbish. I did ask the people standing around the PA Hut if they knew who scoared/who was substituted, but they too were unable to see.

 

In terms of the syko information. The information was patched from the internet stream and so you found out at exactly the same time that it went out on the internet - I simply put the stream link into my media player. This was done as I wanted Mike Green and Steve Wells to be able to present the information as they wanted to as it is their 'show'.
