Wealdstone 1-1 Billericay

Recommended Posts

Can't believe we didn't win this one... Totally dominant for pretty much all the game - they didn't have a shot on target until they scored. We hit the woodwork twice, Nathan's had a header cleared off the line by a defender and their keeper was by a country mile their best player, 3 excellent saves. They've scored with an excellent shot from outside the box soon after we went 3 up front, then Game scrambled an equaliser in injury time.

Henty, Hunter, Game, Hodges

Ok we didn't win, but I thought we played great football tonight, and our work rate was phenomenal.

If we can reproduce that kind of performance (plus a goal or two) Vs Fisher, then the cup's ours for the taking.

A big well done to all the players...unlucky lads

Wealdstone is a nice club, but fck me, the venue of Northwood hates us. Third time unlucky, and that's nowt to do with football.

agree with TC and Simon, still cant figure out how we didnt come back with 3 points. Wealdstone had one shot and scored where we had at leat 6 good chances but as said above their keeper had a blinder. Sods law that we take Kerrers off and their goal comes in from where he would have been had we still been 4 at the back.

Thought Swaine looked solid again, but for me our best player last night was Leon. His range of passing was superb and his one touch play was just as good. For me, he is player of the season.

Thought Forbes made a difference when he came on.

As for the venue, felt like I should have had a spray can and a can of fosters with me just to fit in with some of the local "fans".

I can't agree more with the sentiments here but I will mention the teams character. After the half time "incident", the lads could've easily dropped their heads but they didn't and came back stronger and better. A true indication of their team spirit from the management team down to the players!!!

For me, Leon, Matt Game and Swaine were the players of the match. Oh and lets not forget their keeper, who pulled off a couple of blinding saves to keep us out for most of the game.

Hmmm the above makes interesting reading, our turn on Saturday. Sounds like our physio will be busy on the day if Wealdstone use spoiling tactics...

I suppose they are a team fighting for their lives at the bottom who have recently lost their goalgetters...so you can't blame them for putting 11 behind the ball and hope to nick a goal on the break...

Hopefully Fish will be a bit more clinical and put them to bed before half time, we'll see!

Im guessing by the "half time incident" you mean what was written on the Ryman forum was correct for once !!

Scumbags. I can't believe we still have grounds where the changing rooms are "outside" the stadium.

It's a sitting target for any local w***** (excuse my french)

Don't envy you on a cold night being stood behind the goal that backs onto the graveyard.

I wont comment on the game but sorry to hear about what happened.

How's ya luck eh? Played some great stuff at times but it's that final cutting edge we sometimes lack. Keepers played a blinder, we've hit the woodwork 3 times and out played the oppo, Wealdstone however go up the other end and ping one in from 22 yards with virtually thier first shot on target! Well done to the players for keeping thier concentration after the half-time goings on and for still plugging away even after we've conceeded that late goal, I salute you all. Great performance from Rob Swaine, although that two-footed lunge near the end....

As for the play-offs, never say NEVER, too many freak results happening, that final nail has yet to be hammered home.

Fish, I reckon Heybridge are the ones you want to avoid, 5-0 win away at Hampton last night and Dean Holdsworth now playing for them.

Ryan agree about Swaines two footed, he was very lucky that on that occasion the Wealdstone player never made more of it.

Yeah your right Paul Heybridge wouldn't be my first choice either in the playoff's. However we did play them off the park at Scraley Road.

How can a side be so great away but so ordinary at home! The Champion Hill pitch is completely overused, we play a passing game but its not possible on that turf.

If only we could get to Bromley and their carpet we'd be alright then. Anyone who comes to Champion Hill in the playoff's must fancy their chances. I'd be very happy with Staines, Worthing or Hampton in the semi though.

Despite our home form blues I still back us to beat you boys at Grays. If the pitch is good that is!

personally i do noth think i have seen such a one sided game for a very long time. Did everything bar score goals. Got the feeling it would be one of those nights after half time (for obvious reasons). Lots of good football played but how cold was it in the second half!! unlucky blues.
