Welcome to mfc: online - Margate Football Club on the web

Announcement

At a specially convened meeting held after the Windsor & Eton game the Club Directors informed Chris Kinnear and Assistant Manager Kevin Raine that they have both been suspended from their duties with immediate effect.

The decision taken reflects the run of poor results since Christmas and the Clubs unacceptable position at the bottom of the Ryman Premier League this Season.

The Directors acknowledge the huge vote of thanks due to Chris Kinnear for the success over the last decade and Chris will go down as the Clubs most successful Manager in recent history. The Club will seek to appoint a caretaker Manager and will advertise the vacant position immediately.

Tbh its not really that much of a shock considering the recent results and performances.

The timing could save us or could doom us we will see.

don`t no if its good or bad to get rid of someone at this time of the season , but i did mention in another thread that it was odd to bring in another coach to help CK out . Anyway goodluck Ck you will be back in football before we get a permenent replacement .

I care about MFC more then any manager, CK has done a hell off alot for this club he took us to the conferance but recent results have been dire.

He hasnt been sacked yet any how he has been suspended i guess we will see where things go in the coming days.

[color:"Blue"] I too think the timing is wrong, perhaps if we hadn't bashed Wealdstone 4-0 away it'd have been done a month ago.

I'm sorry to see him go, but for some time, judging from his body language on the touch line (and lack of motion there <compared to a few seasons ago>) it has seemed as if he's just been 'going through the motions' of managing us rather than being in complete control.

I'm feeling a bit stunned.

Margate FC with Chris Kinnear at the helm is all I have ever known of this club, being a bit of an arriviste, as you all know, and not supporting them for 45 years and all that.

I feel very sad for Chris that it has not worked out, and very sad for the club to have had to make this decision. We have travelled a very long way together. But I am not altogether surprised, given the pedigree of our players, contrasted with our results.

Chris has been a fantasic manager for us, and so goes with my best wishes and grateful thanks.

But the club is the thing - we must go on, and go upwards. Let's hope we can find the person to deliver this forward momentum. We must look to the future now.

Yep agree but it could tip both ways, so we will see
Its a real shame if Chris reign comes to a end in this manner so just in case, Thanks for Great Memories Chris, you took us to heights we could only dream of, and im sure every Gate fan will always be thankfull for what you have done for us.

I'm with Butler on this one. I'm absolutely fuming. Look where the man took us. Was it Chris' fault the ground was knocked down? Was it Chris' fault there were no funds last season? Was it Chris' fault we went into administration? etc...

The promised new stadium hasn't been delivered at the end of 2005 as promised and looks like it never will (one of the reasons Chris was persuaded to stay) and still no info from the club. If this is how such loyalty is repaid then the board are a [****!!****] joke and should be looking at their own performance. They should seriously think of sacking themselves.

I was one of the 133 at Homelands on a seriously freezing Tuesday night v. Maidenhead and remember thinking surely Kinnear can do better and is worth more than this-well now he's got the chance-go and prove the idiots who supposedly run this club wrong.

All the best for the future to the manager who gave our most SUCCESSFUL period ever.

Agreed Hornet. I'm absolutely numb with shock and I am gutted for Chris. He is an absolute legend no matter how much I have criticised him. There is criticism and then there is this. A big difference. There is only one man we can possibly go for who could do the job and that is ANDY FORD. Though I do agree that Robin Trott would be a good caretaker manager.

But thank you from the bottom of my heart Chris Kinnear for 10 years of fantastic service to this club. I will follow your next career move very closely.
