KSC results: Programme editor to act or not?

Seeing as we have reached the final of the competition, I find it more than a little bit odd that none of our results are yet listed in our programme. Yes, I know that it is a competition which needs a fairly dramatic re-think for next season and the future, but don't knock it too much as it is the only thing we now have a chance to win in 2005/06. Why is the Club ashamed of our progress to the final that it can't be bothered to record it?

I'm not. I have done mini reports for both of our games, and included photographs. The trouble with the stats page is that it takes the girl at our printers half an hour to make any changes to it because it's such a complex structure on her pc.

I will sort it, and make sure that both fixtures, and the date for the final when we know it, are in the stats page for the Woking game.

Thanks for your reply. However, I thought that a number of weeks ago it was accepted that due to technical problems the KSC results would not be included within the same grid for the other results but would be included elsewhere within the programme.

The fundamental problem is that unlike the best results services in programmes such as that produced by York City, the whole of the double page has not been used for the required data. Therefore from the start of the season there is a lack of space and the grid etc looks crowded and the symbols used are unnecessarily complicated. This becomes even more difficult to portray as more and more games are played. If the whole of the two pages were used this could be avoided. Perhaps this could be considered for next season?

In the meantime there is now only one home game left to include the KSC information in a programme before the final is played due to the insane scheduling of the match. I really cannot understand the reasoning of the Kent FA towards this competition. It is as if it is treated as a plaything and to hell with any suggestions that might breathe some new life into it. They will only have themselves to blame if it withers away.

Finally, I would like to suggest that if the width of the space used for fixtures/results is increased in future, in addition to recording the away supporters present, that if there has been a sponsor for a match that the sponsor's name be left in place for posterity. This will give sponsors more value for money rather than the (pardon the pun) fleeting mention that they now receive. This may attract different sponsors or encouage existing patrons to sponsor further games too. Perhaps there could be an award for the most frequent sponsor in a single season? Please confirm if these ideas are of assistance, or if not why?

Shouldn't it just be a case of inserting the fixtures on the relevant date?

No, because all of the symbols, even though they are letters, are in individual text boxes, which makes it more complex, especially with the amount of data that she has stored on the computer.

KMJ, the result from the dover game got a 3/4 page spread with photos in the next programme, and the Margate one was in the Aldershot programme. As for the final, I'll make every effort to get it in the last game of the season. But please don't forget, it's actually classed as a reserve team fixture.

You have perhaps misunderstood what was requested, namely, the results of the KSC games we have played in being written down with the players and goalscorers listed. Consider it a very mini version of the main results page. The match reports have been useful but are not a concise catalogue of the competition to be refered to in one place. There is no need to fiddle about with the main grid at all. And as for it being a "reserve fixture", where exactly in fact does this distinction begin and end with any of our games at present, given the players either available or actually selected?

Except having to add the names of the more obscure players who played in the Sittingbourne match.

Of course, next season, if the players' names are used for each game they play instead of symbols, this won't be a problem.
