Hendon Res 2-0 Windsor Res

The reserves went to Hendon with a depleted side, and came up against opposition made up almost entirely of first team players. After a slow start, WEFC began to dominate the game, and played some neat football before half time, and defended well against a very strong home attack. Hendon stepped up the pace in the second half, and WEFC were forced to defend for the rest of the game. Just when we thought that a well-earned point was ours, tired legs and tired minds set in, and we conceded a soft goal after 75 mins. Another poor goal five minutes from time consigned the ressies to another defeat, but the performance, considering the opposition, was very encouraging. Hendon first team manager praised the WEFC defence after the game and was impressed with 18 yr old Aran Taylor-Ives and Richard Sanford in defence who gave their first team strikers a tough time.

Gardiner; Elford; Sanford; Taylor-Ives (Turner 80); Abbott; Sacha; Maqsood; Walsh; Edgerley; J.Woodcraft (Davies 70); Morris. Unused subs : Woodcraft G and Spellman E !!!!

Ressies play Farnborough at home on Wednesday, come along and support.

from a Hendon point of view the game was spoilt by poor refereeing and one dodgy old lineo who could barey sprint 5 yards not half the lenght of pitch, Basically i thought we just about deserved the win but your back line lacked pace against some quick off the mark players and your midfield failed to close us down in our own half. The young no 4 for you looked a promising lad and your keeper was having to cover some 30yards out from goal on more than one occassion after hed gone off injured. Game played in a good spirit and lets hope we are here next season as i remember last year you put 5 passed us.

considering we have posts on here about how better it would be to play the reserves instead of the 1st team, I think it is quite evident from the report as Hendon are a poor team in this division, if they had some 1st teamers playing it shows the gulf between 1st and reserves.

you miss the point no one ever said about playing the whole ressie team, just a few of them,

with a bit of spirit and a few people in the first team youth and experience always go together well .

There are up to half a dozen good young players who MIGHT, just MIGHT push for a first team place next pre-season.That may depend, of course, on what division the Club is in, but in any event, the club is in a reasonably healthy position in terms of possible new blood. The reserve team results don't matter, it's about finding possible first team players.
As somebody said, nobody would suggest playing the WHOLE reserve team.
