WIth the exception of Martin Blake, if this turns out to be anything more than a publicity stunt to keep our state of homelessness in the pulic eye, I'd be very surprised.

Given my view that this is simply a publicity stunt, hence my comparisons with the TV show, from which people were quite happy to stay away from the match for.

Gary..your at it again....

remember we have talked for months on this subject and you are the first person to make a decenting comment..why has it taken you to wake up would be interesting to know why you think its a joke..we know we will not win any seats , its more of a protest vote and the mear fact to bring it back into the public domain that we are still homeless is the message to be said ! nothing at all about getting into bed with any of the parties...we have learnt our lessons from Chalton Ath and Brentford who did the same and had an effect to highlight their problems.

The political system in this country allows us to have a right to stand and thats what we are doing for the benifit of the club, not political parties... It maybe tactical voting but whats wrong with that ? All the parties do this ! and thats why we have a NOC in slough (accept the alliance) sticking together which has made things even worse as they clearly don't have a clue.

I'm at what exactly Chris? I'm expressing my opinion that I believe us putting forward candidates to stand in only five of the wards, one of which may not be accepted, is a bit strange, particularly as people clearly weren't interested in standing, as shown by you having to put yourself forwards for the Britwell seat.

Initially it was laid out as putting candidates forward to highlight the plight of the club, and that nothing was required of them. Now it looks like we're canvassing and actively searching for votes. I thought the line was we didn't want to be used as a 'political football'? Why has it taken this for us to highlight our continued plight? It's not as though we've had the success of last season to generate the publicity for us, yet we (and I include myself) have done nothing to try and gain support from everywhere round Slough to support our cause through attending matches and helping us try to somehow get a return to Slough.

Out of interest, where is the finance coming from for the canvassing materials? Where are we getting any advice, political or otherwise, on this?

At the end of the day, I'll support this club through thick and thin, despite the occassional tantrum, and will continue to do all I can to support it, both in person and in financial terms.

Gary, of course it is a publicity stunt but it is a publicity stunt in the public/political arena with an intention of however slightly influencing the political mood in the borough in the build up to an election. Since the public announcement that we would be running candidates we have already seen Cllr Stokes suddenly raise the issue of the football club again. He hasn't mentioned us for at least a year - so we have already had some impact.

My objection to the Bravo idea was that I really do not see any benefit practical or financial. So why has the club taken that decision - I can't see the rationale. I would like that explained to me in much the same why as I have explained the trust's decision. You still think we are wrong that's fine but at least you have all the facts.

Your stirring again, thats what i mean....Why Now...why not before we had already put into motion this is what we were going to do ! The Trust has been accussed in the past in not doing more..when we do .....its wrong...I think we are on a hiding to nothing ....but I don't care...

Your point has been made and accepted...but the majority I feel wins on this occassion...

as per funding ..we can claim all our expenses back and I will be doing this after the elections , and advice has come from my good supporters friends at Brentford and supporters Direct along with help from the town hall..We are on a learning curve and maybe next year as per your wish we can field candidates in all the wards and I am sure you can be one of them !

I think Stokes comments were more due to his seat in Haymill coming up in the election to make himself look better as I think was mentioned on here.

The Bravo guys arranged the poorly publicised meeting after the Worthing match which people attended and tonight's conference for the local press and for supporters to attend also. The details have and will be made available at these meetings and then be out in the local press this weekend I'm sure. I will be trying to gain information from them and the club prior to this on the site so that the information is there for people to see and also to understand why the club has decided on taking this project on.

I read this morning that there is a meeting about the Bravo event at 5.30pm in Windsor. I am at work until 5.30 and then have to get a train from Maidenhead to Windsor. I should be at the Stag by what 6.30 if I am lucky 15 mins after the event ends. Convenient.

I don't really considering us to be canvassing for votes but canvassing for attention which may in turn attract more supporters. Given that the general consensus is that the Trust should be going round dropping thousands of leaflets a week in an effort to get 20 more people through the gate the words two birds and one stone spring to mind.

Chris/Martin, will a press release about this event be written for the Trust site detailing what the Trusts plans are in an official light?

So basically, we're doing publicity for the club for this. If it gets extra people through the gate then excellent as it will be generating much needed revenue for the club. As for the leaflets, it was thought some time ago the Trust would assist with the printing of leaflets to help publicise the match with Windsor. At the time, Chris S was quite supportive of the idea initiated I believe by Nibbler, but nothing was followed up on this.

As for the meeting this evening, it's been poorly planned and laid out and I'm not best pleased at it either as I wanted to attend what I was led to believe an event happening at the Polish club for around 7.00pm so that we could film it and get it on the site for our supporters further away. I'm still hopeful of getting a written account of events to get on here to try and provide people with as much information as possible.

Yes I will do a press release largely cut and paste from the postings from here over the last few hours. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Seriously, will try and get something together at the sub-committee meeeting on Thursday.

I knew I could rely on the site to keep me informed about the Bravo meeting but I was quite looking forward to giving the bloke a grilling.

Gary, I said id stand for merely 1 reason, to let whoever is voted in those wards know that we are still alive and a group that demand to be respected and given some help if possible.

I am one of the few who are not bloody minded enough to believe that the council 'Owe' us a ground, but just to give them a reminder that we are still around and would be pleased with some help would be a moral victory.

And personally i would put my todger between two floury baps and shout 'dinner time fido' at a rabid alsation before going to 'bed' with labour.
