Can I get people to boycot the elections as I think this is a silly idea?

I would rather you got people to actively support the idea and provide the assistance that the candidates will need. The Board have decided this is what we are going to do and we rather hoped the members would support that decision. If you think it is a silly idea the forum to raise that will be at the AGM on the 12th July and if you are dissatisfied with the Board I trust you will be supporting one of the alternative candidates who will doubtless be standing against the current board members (which I would actively encourage btw in the interest of democracy).

Given the response to the Bravo show, hell yeah it was serious. The initial impression I got was that people were being put forward to stand to split the vote. Presumably, we've made our bed with Labour, so want them to get back in power, so what happens then if because of this, Labour lose further seats because of our candidates?

I'm sorry, but I think it's a joke.

We have not made "our bed" with Labour. If we wanted to support Labour candidates we could - I don't seem to remember them actually helping us that much during their period of office. The point of this campaign is to find out what the candidates position is on the football club and to put forward independent one issue candidates to give people an option if they want to vote exclusively on this issue. We will also be leafleting relevant areas to ultimately promote the football club and to raise awareness of our ongoing homelessness.

I don't get the comparison with the Bravo show either. Bravo is a minority tv station with viewing figures of circa 800. We are looking to target the town and borough in which we hope to actually play with a public campaign.

The response to the Bravo show was individuals making a unilateral decision not to 'take part'. At no stage did anyone try and influence others not to attend if that's what they wanted to do. Obviously the events of last weekend have put that decision into perspective anyhow and, as I mentioned on another thread, I'll be there.

What you are suggesting is trying to influence others to boycot which is a different thing entirely. I think Nibbler makes the most valid point, however! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
