Boro 0 City 0

I thought on balance that on another day city might of sneaked a win today - still a good away result against an in form team standing at 4th place in the league.

Muff have two away games to look forward to while we have two home games - should make it interesting for the 17th !

Come on you Saints <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/excited.gif" alt="" />

I thought that Farnborough were once of the best organised sides that I have seen this season but seemed to have no interest in winning the game. I can only remember them having one shot all match and that was a free kick. I thought that was disappointing for a side near the top of the league playing at home.

Well, it's only the second time this season in the league that we've failed to score a goal. We had a couple of great chances in the opening 5 minutes - one hitting off the post springs immediately to mind. Fairplay to 'boro though, their intention was to defend and stop us playing our usual game - I think they only had one shot all game(?)! I feel that we missed Tom Davies, and that if we had that extra creativity in midfield it might have been a different story. Not the best game we've seen this season, but the chips were good! :-)

If 'logic' said that we were not going to win our last 6 games, we should be pleased with a clean sheet and a point away from home at a side fourth in the league and unbeaten in 10 games.

However,I'm not interested in logic. That was a frustrating afternoon for me as I saw it as two points dropped and Boro, while a good side, would have lost a boxing match by a unanimous points verdict. Quite rightly, the sponsors awarded the MotM to their keeper who certainly earned his corn.

Not all chances are going to be taken, of course, but we had done more than enough to be ahead at half-time. I was concerned at our second half performance when we seemed to lose our shape in the final third of the pitch. Too often Matt 'Matty' Hann and Ben Walshe appeared to be looking to move inside rather than stay out wide, and it all seemed narrow as a result. And it doesn't seem to 'work' when Lee Clarke is directed to play deep leaving Paul Hakim to take the forward role. [Does anyone know if Ben Walshe lives at home, by the way? I'm tempted to write to his Mum to suggest that she cuts back on the pastry. Perhaps the chap that used to drive the red tractor could get a couple of XXL shirts for the run-in.]

Everyone in the dressing-room has had a fantastic season, and any criticism of mine is muted, but I felt that for a 20/30 minute period of the second half t'lads collectively appeared to lower the work-rate in the 'Boro half looking for someone else to 'do the job'.

It will be for Colin and Nick to lift 'em for next Saturday, but they shouldn't need to much lifting in view of the position what we are in, with the Muff to come in two weeks.

Bring on the Histon!
