Daish has got to go!

Recommended Posts

Having just returned home from the debacle that was the match against Aldershot, I feel that it now has to be said - DAISH OUT.

This afternoons game was quite frankly bloody awful. What the hell have the players been doing on the training ground. Many played like they were complete strangers, at least three free-kicks in dangerous positions around the Aldershot penalty area and not one got anywhere near testing the goalkeeper.

Somebody joked that Johnsons shot from around 18 years out, that not only cleared the goal, it cleared the stand and very nearly cleared Wallis Park was worthy of three points as it would have been great in rugby, it would have been the only three points the Fleet were likely to get this afternoon. And probably more than they are likely to get from now until the end of the season?

I hope that nobody comes onto this forum stating that it unfair to criticize Daish as he assembled a better side than in previous seasons,as has been said in the past when I dared criticize him, well if todays game was anything to go by then thats crap.

The team today looked what it is, a bunch of very average inexperienced players, with very little interest in fighting for the Fleet turning in a below average performance against what was another poor side. The joke is that over a thousand people turned up and paid good money for the rubbish that was turned out today. The other joke is that the majority of the players on the pitch, wearing red shirts, are being paid full-time money. Joke did I say??? What the hells funny about it. The joke is that I was daft enough to go and waste £12 getting-in. The board wonder why attendances are going down??? and I thought that only some of the posters on this forum wore rose tinted glasses. Depending on the numbers that cross the river from Grays, I will be amazed if more than 600 turn-up next week.

Daish and his management team look out of their depth, clueless, totally inept and should go, sooner rather than later.

I haven't had time to listen to Daish's excuses on Radio Kent, no doubt he will moan about injuries, the transfer window, the referee anything other than where the real fault lies ie. with himself.

Daish should do the honorable thing and resign and give the club time to get a replacement in position for the start of next season. A season that will not see the Fleet making an appearance in what was the LDV Trophy.

I have restrained fom commenting before, but here it goes. Yes we are safe this year but if we start next season as we have finished this we won't be as safe, would Ford do any better? I would say yes we saw a more commited side under Ford. There was no commitment on the field today and I'm sorry to say we won't see any more this season, will we see any more next season? I doubt it.

I am not going to comment on the Daish in/out debate, however I will say this:

Over the last few games there have been one or two instances where players have had a go at each other because balls have not been played to their liking. Now I would have though that this sort of tactical planning would take place during the week. May be I am wrong? Secondly; who was captain today for us? I spent a good five minutes scanning out players looking for an arm band. I should not have had to do that! I should have been able to spot the player straight off as the one yelling at the players and getting them going.

On the match (Aldershot): First goal was scored by Gooding (I am not even going there). Their second goal was well executed and deservedly applauded by home and away fans alike (me included). Our defending was poor at times. I lost count of the number of times that Gooding lost it and miss kicked it (damn I said I wasn’t going there) to the point were Ross stopped passing to him in the end.

This season is over. I will pop along to the game on Tuesday, thought I was at the Grays away game. I can see another 6 goal thrashing on the cards here. Someone needs to instil some passion to the side. It’s passion that is sadly lacking. The players may fill that the season is over but the board should remind them that poor, passionless performances on the pitch this season equals lower gates!

Having now heard Daish's excuses on Radio Kent, I am even more convinced he should go!

Todays's result is down to inexperience???

Well Liam in case you don't remember, you brought the inexperienced players in and you let those with some conference experience go.

Ironic isn't it, probably the clubs best footballing defender played for Margate today. He could have done a better job today than most of those on the pitch against Aldershot.

Just got back from the game myself, agree with everything that has been said, I think the time is right for Daish and Kimble to do the honourable thing and leave the club. How the man can think that Scott Gooding is the best right back the club has got, when he lets a better player go on loan to margate is beyond me. Never have i seen a fleet side that lacked ideas, quality and more importantly PASSION. Iam going on tuesday against Grays and if we play like that we will be thrashed. Instead of Daish buying more defenders surely a striker is of paramount importance, how can a full time club have only 3 strikers on their books i just dont know. Our bench today had no one on it who could turn the game.Relegation a dead cert next season with laurel and hardy aka Daish and Kimble at the helm, no ideas on tatical changes, does not now how to motivate players, no man managment skills, not fair on the players, who would die for the fleet, the likes of skins, proths, jakko, so what if their part time, at least they give blood for the cause.

Reading the comments on here and hearing from a couple of people I know who were at the game, it appears that our worst fears about Daish are coming true.

This is such a critical time in our history with the opportunities that our geographical position is giving us, that it is imperative that everything on the field has to be right, and it quite obviously isn't, the treatment of certain part-time players who were the heartbeat of the club beggars belief.

When Daish is quoted as saying that ''inexperience '' was our problem today, we should look at him and question his lack of it also (look at his record)

The sad fact is that to get rid of him would cost the club money,

It gives me no pleasure to say it, but I was planning on taking in some of the remaining games, now there is no chance, and in over 40 years of supporting the club it's the first time I can remember feeling this way, and there have been some bloody awful seasons, I just feel uneasy about the whole managerial set up at the club now, and i'm obviously not alone.

Rawle’s hamstring looks serious - and will keep him out for a few weeks. So we are left with Luke as our only striker.

And 5 left backs in Skins, Jacko, Watkins, Hawkins and Glozier, and only 1 right back.

We got rid of our only other right back, who happened to not only be our best right back by a country mile, but also clashed with Daish.

Add to this his tactical naivity, lack of flair, and inability to change a game, then you have a manager out of his depth.

His players ARE honest. I question whether Daish was honest when he put on his CV that he was a football manager.

Couldn't get to the game today as I'm trying to sell my house, ( which is going as well as Gravesend's season is finishing),

therefore I can't really make comment on the performance which from the sound of it was pretty dire.

I don't believe in hounding a manager out and I must admit to being generally pro-Daish rather than anti. However, there does appear to be something wrong with the team at the moment which has something to do with the management side of things, personally I think both Daish and Kimble need a reminder of what the supporters want here, and thats a bit of passion coupled with an attempt (at least) to play some decent football.

Some of the blame should also be shouldered by the board who MUST have a bit more of an enlightened attitude. Its blindingly obvious that we are crying out for another goalscorer who may actually play more than half a season and also an attacking midfield player to provide the bulllets. If we were to risk it and buy someone like Boylan from Canvey for example, the results would certainly speak for themselves as he is a guarenteed 20 goal a season player. BUT its a risk, a risk that could backfire and I'm not sure that our present board has the wit or bottle to take such a risk. This means we are condemned to be nothing more than "bit-players" in this division as attendances won't go up all the time we are playing crap "mid-table" football. Remember its the board who provides the cash, not the manager.

What I'm trying to say here, is that its not JUST Daish and Kimble who should shoulder the blame. Fordy had the same problem last year and those of you who think he would be doing any better..... think again, I haven't seen many clubs from either end of the pyramid clamouring to get him on board, he had a style of management that towards the end of his time here, the players found difficult to handle.

And W.V.N and C.G, while you may have a fair point of view at the moment, your previous rants concerning Daish really mean that your thoughts now should be taken with a HUGE pinch of salt! If he was to announce the loan signing of Michael Owen tomorrow (hyperthtical I know!), you would still be moaning on the lines of Daish bringing in an injury prone loaneee who had no heart for the club and had lost all his pace! Its obvious you haven't liked him since day one!

I bet you two are having a great night tonight! Still it makes a change from kicking the dog!

I'm really sore that Liam let my favourite player go to Margate, but pleased for Provs that he done well today.

I was there today as always, But I cannot go on Tuesday, and see my club go through anymore humilation as was dished up today. Fall on your sword Liam and have the good grace to go before you destroy the last little bit of pride we have. It may be a job to Liam and some of his players, but to us fans, it's a passion.

I hate to admit it, but it would appear that WVN has been right from the outset.

Bring back Skins, Prov and Co, and bring back a little passion.

Did anyone see Liam leave the bench to encourage the players? I don't think so. The Shots guy was up most of the time during the match shouting instructions.

You had to be there too witness how bad it really was!
And I would be surprised if even the most staunch Liam fan were to come on here and say anything positive.

Not another shortarse up front with no conference experience....why can't we ever sign a forward who isn't dwarfed by his marker.

Wrong!!!

Whilst I thought that Daish was the wrong appointment from the outset, I do not recall posting any comment, until today that is, that he should go. All season I have very much taken the view that the board have given him the job, now lets see what happens"

The truth is that he has been in the job for around a year and whilst there were some positive signs earlier on in the season, all of the good work has now gone well and truly down the pan. Daish complains about the lack of experience in the team, but who is responsible for the signing of inexperienced players? The problem stems from the inexperience of the management team, a management team that was given a higher budget to sign players than pobably any management team in the club's history. But looking at today's team and their performance, the money that has been spent and the opportunities and possible success that money should have bought has been wasted.

I therefore must reiterate my earlier post that I believe Daish must go and go now to give the board the opportunity to find a replacement before the start of next season.

I thought that James Smith tried very hard today and with a few breaks could have got on the score sheet. But god what a position to find ourselves, having to resort to playing a centre half as a forward at this level.

Unless Macdonald or Rawle make a miraculous recovery then I'm afraid it looks like Smith will have to finish the season up front.

With all respect to James Smith, its a bloody joke.

What a great game today.

First half we played nice passing football got forward a few times and then we were unfortunate enough to concede a goal.

When the second half started it was a disappointment to see Saunders going off due to his reoccurring back injury, and Johnson coming on.

What followed was a great goal by Aldershot that was applauded by many home fans, including me, and saw the Shots fans singing the "easy" chant. They were right.

The second half continued to be poor as we never really got going, without Saunders in the team we are a very poor side.

I went into the bar today to tell the manager what I thought but unfortunately he wasn't in there and neither was the chairman or any of the directors so couldn't ask questions or share my thoughts.

As for my comments about this being a great game for the Fleet, these things often take a while to see, WATCH THIS SPACE!* I don't know anything and haven't been speaking to anyone the people that would make such a decision I haven't seen since I sold them a golden goal on the way into the ground.

However one way that this was poor was that WVN seems to have been proved right. Okay mate you win well done. You hide behind your computer when no-one knows who you are (at least that’s what you think) and revel in the Fleets demise just so you could say ha-ha I told you so.

And Chatham Gary what about you, yeah okay your also right but you sent a message via your sad little text phone thingy at the end of quite a good first half, I bet you couldn't wait for us to go a goal down so you could put that on here. Shame you don't ever go to away games where you could post some more drivel except you'd have some sort of readership which you don't get at home games as everybody is at the ground (except for Fleetfanatic who I saw on Thursday and was going to try and come today).

*Cheers to Greg! etc etc...
