Silly defensive errors again. Ball left to float over head by Edwards or it could have been Trott. Full back(no names)dosent get in a challenge & is slow to act, trying to let the ball go out of play but their player didnt give up on the ball & ends up with loads of time to square to on coming forward for an easy knock in. Second,Donovan caught with player wrong side & pulls him down. Definate penalty.Diabolical defending again has lost us the game or at the worst prevented us from securing a point at least.

Behcet made some brilliant saves today.Kept us in the game though having said that they werent really causing us many problems.

Even Holdsworth was kept quiet.

Brayley out of sorts & substituted,Hockton good follow up to score but had some unlucky blocked shots at goal previously.Apart from those chances & the goal didnt shine today.

Yiga showed good flair & played well.

Trott once again outshone the rest of them. Protheroe did well. All others were mediocre or less.

We just need three defenders who can defend to join Trott & maybe, just maybe,we will get something from the games we have left.

Lots of effort(especially in first half) but failed to capitalize on wind conditions in that first half.

Heybridge a fair side but nothing out of the ordinary.

Heybridge deserved their win but only because of two stupid errors at the back.

Once again we are our own worst enemies.

Just so home fans don't get too despondent, I am sure anyone who went last week will agree that the performance today against Heybridge was a massive improvement.

We played a back four most of the match, with Oates (occasionally Standen) staying back with Donovan/Edwards/Trott (right to left). We looked static at times though and that's how they got their first goal.

I thought we looked best with Yiga/Standen wide midfield, Keister/Protheroe central. Protheroe was excellent, a real midfield general. It will be nice when we have someone like Deen to play alongside him.

The ref was awful, and that was never a penalty. But what was Donovan doing just before that? That's two weeks running he has been asleep at the back.

Who was man of the match; was it Protheroe or Behcet? I will vote for the keeper, but I would prefer not to notice him during the match!

We have got to win on Tuesday. That's 5 league defeats in a row.

Penalty was a DEFINATE. Where were you looking at it from Chris? No arguments about that decision. Referee was at fault mainly and possibly only for not allowing free kicks to be taken from slightly away from the actual spot where the free kick should have been taken. Our fault really for not doing so.We certainly cant blame the referee today.

He pulled him down having got caught out of position.Donovan much too slow to react and caught the player with mistimed tackle. The guy shouldnt have been goal sides of him in the first place. The referee was 100% correct in his decision i.m.o.

Totally agree with your third sentence. Perhaps someone else will cast a deciding vote.

Does anyone have any info on Spencer Knight? Seems to have played at St Albans, Harrow, Canvey (with Bertie?) etc. Looked lively today I thought.

Good performance today other than those stupid defensive errors. Other than Trott I am concerned about the defence. The rest of the team played well other than Bertie who looked a shade of his normal self as others have mentioned. Roll on Tuesday.

ps Chris I thought it was a penalty although I was 70 yards away. In truth I was in no position to see properly.

Dont need a casting vote Chris, we are just giving our own opinions of the incident and right or wrong we should stand by them no matter what. Its not a contest. Having said that, you are wrong about the penalty (l.o.l).& the ref wasnt bad at all apart from those delays in the taking of the free kicks. That was sheer pettiness though of course strickly speaking he was correct in bringing the ball back each time according to the laws of the game.He later allowed them a free kick from the wrong spot so with that in mind maybe he wasnt all that clever of great after all. Still shouldnt detract from us giving the game away AGAIN ourselves. It wasnt he who lost us the game but our defence themselves.

Shame that we lost today, but that is what everyone expected. Our defence needs sorting our seriously as it is becoming a joke now, but it is a bit difficult for me to comment on the defensive performance today as i was not there. A win on tuesday will relieve some pressure and lift our heads again, but if we dont believe that we can win then we wont win. Up the gate.

It was a much better performance than the last home game, so frustrating to see minor errors cost us at least a point.

Not sure if it was a penalty or not, there was shirt grabbing but think the attacker may have gone down a bit easily to make sure!

Overall, it was not a bad performance but just needs errors in key places to be cut out, however surely three points is a must on Tuesday? I feel better after this game than the Walton match at least.

Lee Protheroe was my motm today he ran the midfield ,all you could here him doing was shouting 4 players to be in position , Bertie were`s the armband this is his job . He done none of this until they had scored but then it was to late why is it we get in these quality players whose 1st 3,4,5, games you get almost 100% football out of them , then it slowly starts going downhill afterwoods .We all rated Bertie when he came on loan , the footy he played was outstanding now he is just above most of the players in quality.WHY. Adolph , Ian , Sasha , Remy , Taylor , to name just a few all played good footy when they came , then it went wrong they left now most of them are playing good footy and scoring goals. Personally ive got nothing against CK at all without him we would be gone , finished , but why now has he brought someone else in to watch and help coach the players is he just a bit worried why its not quite working the way he wants it to .HE`s a proud man and he will never say to us it went wrong but has he got it in him to turn it round i hope so . sorry bit long winded

I am heartened that the new coach seems to be a 'back four' man (if that really was his influence). Oates and Standen must have been under orders that whichever was forward the other had to drop back.

The bad thing about that is the other defenders have to be aware of that and cover different areas accordingly, which can lead to confusion.

Even with four at the back we are still going to get caught until we get more mobile. Trott is never going to be fast, but he is good. Gate hero Bill is near the end of his career. Donovan seems to have other things on his mind or else he parties till 6am every Friday night.

And ps. I take back 'never a penalty' but still think the ref was poor. What about all the handballs not given? And his childish posturing when we took a kick from about a yard wrong?

If we dont get three points on Tuesday then I think we really ARE in trouble. All out for the points on Tuesday I think.Even if it does end up a victory with a score of 8-7. Am more than confident that we WILL get the three points we need to ease any concerns. There I go predicting again.Sorry!

Funny how we have played him central midfield and he looks great.

Perhaps when our injured midfielders return he will drop back and solve our defensive problems.

Protheroe, somebody, somebody, and Trott is looking good already! Yes, hope we keep him. Sorry Gary.

Crap result against a crap team in a crap league I think that just about sums up the status of our team. We have beome the team everyone wants to play cause they know we are going to give them the points without them even trying. Sorry to be so blunt but in my eyes its the truth.Every time ateam attacks us they look liable to score. When they do we just seem to have no idea what to do.Alright we got a goal back. But by then we had lost our way, and there was no whey back.
