Chopper are you confident that with 10 similar quality outfield players in front of you WE could hold our own in that league?

Funny, I'd heard that the G14 clubs wanted us to make it G15 in a super league.

Why are there 18 in the G14?

I hope the best goalkeeper available is between the sticks. No room for sentiment in football.

As far as the second choice.

Maldon, Wivenhoe, GWR and Lowestoft is pretty good. But Lowestoft is clearly a long weekend.

the support of Chopper is not just about sentitment. Cousins may be a good keeper but he will not be here for ever. what happens next season when we potentially have lost a keeper that is by far one of the best in this division and who could easily hold his own one league up. It will be very tough to replace Chopper if he were to leave.

As has been said many times.

Next season can look after itself. This season is important and we need the best goalkeeper that is available for these last 5 matches.

It is a very poor manager who does not pick his best team when they are challenging for promotion because he is worrying about the next season.

No player is indispensible and the manager should always look for better players in any position.

At this stage of the season we dont only need to have the best player in any position but also someone who can step in and replace them if we have problems.

Sorry Steph. I stand by what I say re Chopper. Cousins will be better than him in years to come as he will be giving football his all as a career so will be trained better. Right now, I don't see much to chose between the two so would go with Chopper in goal.

No disrespect to Chopper, but I think Cousins is already better - and let me stress that is a comment on Cousins not on Chopper.

It was summed up for me by someone who knows both players: "Chopper was the best in the division. Now he's the second best"

In my opinion,i don't see much difference between them, and thats saying something, because Cousins looks like a very big talent.

Two things spring to mind.

Why strenghen the position of goalkeeper, when there were much more pressing arguements for strenghening other positions in the team first.

Secondly,by dropping Chopper,Jim knows he is running the risk of losing his services for next season, and we could be left with neither of our current top-class keepers.

Maybe Jim knows something about Choppers attitude and committment, that we don't know, because i can't see how he could have been dropped on form alone.Having said that,if Chopper does stay and treats his current demotion as a kick-up-the-backside,he could become an even better keeper for us next season.

Totally disagree with you. Cousins is the better prospect but they are pretty even now. Jim does need to look to next season and I can't see Cousins staying. I am sure that there is now a rift between the management and Chopper and both parties need to get together and sort it our. someone needs to step in a facilitate this.
