People are putting Rawle down, at this moment in time he is not my favourite player, due to his lack of skill in controling the ball, but again contradicting myself,I would suggest he is a lay it off type, then turn and run for the return, but our midfield is being by passed by the big kick, so no one there very often for him to lay it off to, so surrounded by opposition defenders and midfield, So makes him look ordinary to bad.

I don't think I criticied Rawle either.
Next season, if Charlie had another quality striker alongside him, I reckon Rawle could be very useful playing a forward midfield role, in Fleet Fanatic's diamond shape. We know he brings others into the game, but as you said, the midfield is being bypassed at present- presumably on Liams orders.
I would therefore reiterate my desire for a change to 3-5-3 with 3 pacy defenders - Gooding Ross and Watkins, giving the ball to Drury Saunders Bowry and Jacko (Bowry playing deep) and Rawle a forward role with Charlie alongside A N Other.

Was not accusing you gary or anyone in particular but the forum in general.I get frustrated with Rawle every time he loses the ball which is most of the time, but can also see the frustration in his face to.

Like you, I can appreciate the whole contribution of a player, rather than picking isolated bits of his play, then criticising him. Rawle does add to the team - although I am not entirely convinced that his present role, ie target man or fox in the box suits him. He is a creator and lay off man - much as Cotter used to be.

If Moore can add a bit more physique to go with his pace and skills he could become quite a handfull - at present he is just too lightweight and gets shrugged off the ball by solidly built, experienced defenders.

Ok Harry - could you explain what sort of chance Liam gave Manny in terms of appearances before getting rid of him?

In my opinion, Liam was wrong to get rid of Manny

I thought Omoyinmi was far too lightweight for the Conference and that Daish was right to let him go. If my memory serves me right he signed for Lewes after leaving Stonembridge Road and does not appear to have set the Conference South alight with his goalscoring ability.

On that basis perhaps we should have kept hold of Jean Michel Sigere, he's scored 26 goals for Lewes so far this season.

Without getting involved in the mud slinging and insults i thought Roy Essandoh was a good player, who was fairly good in both the air and with his feet, but was frozen out like so many other players have been,

Roy was very dangerous in the air, and when we had two wingers putting decent crosses over he looked a very good player and scored plenty of goals. When we reverted to type and starting pumping long balls up to him from deep in our own half unsurprisingly the goals dried up.
I doubt that he would do much in the current team as we don't play to his strengths.
Manny had some good matches and his control and pace could cause problems for any team, his ability to compete for high balls would not cause any problems if we were playing snow white and the seven dwarves and unfortunately that was what we asked him to do every week.
As ever, if we aren't scoring it is the forwards that get the blame not the supply line. Obviously if we are creating shedloads of chances and not taking them then the forwards should be held responsible but it is very hard for the forwards to shine without any service.

Don't get me wrong, I really rate Luke, he just needs to "bulk" up a bit.

That will come naturally CG.....but hopefully not as much as some of us former Fleetway forwards.....although it did, and still does, have its advantages !!

Cheers

No.......FPFC Saturday......the same team that are bottom of Div 2 now....but who weren't when the "classic" players were around ( and Springfleet of course ). For the uninitiated, I would compare it to Notts Forest now, & when they won the 1st Divison (old) & European Cup. No disrespect to the current FPFC players, of whom I only know two ( 20 yard lob Quo Man ? can you kick it that far ? ).....

But we were quality........could outdrink any team !! Remember playing at Sutton at Hone once in a cup game...they asked if they could play us every week as they had never taken so much behind the bar !....and Fleetway won !! on penalties if memory serves me right.

You can still see a few of the stars at Stonebridge Road on a Saturday....Big Al, Ada, Dave JB, Micky boy, Big Jon, Wapman, Yorkshire Dunx etc.......not to mention some of the "older" lads like AndrewC & Redolent,...and the Gary Sprake of Springfleet, our very own CG !!

Happy days !!

Cheers,
