WE ARE THE MIGHTY MARGATE!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like Proths did ok on his debut for you boys. He is a quality player either as an attacking right back (which he prefers) or as a right wing back and if you have got someone who can head the ball Proths will supply the crosses.

If you can get some free kicks around 25 yards out he will weigh in with a goal or two as well.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

He has played in midfield I believe earlier in his career and CK probably thought he was best used there yesterday. He did look a little out of place and you could tell he hadn't been in the centre there for a while but the passes he made were excellent. Also I dont think he had trained with us yet so its understandable. Considering we usually bypass the midfield it is a waste of his talents playing him there and I guess it was just him filling in while we wait for others to return. With Hockton as a target man and good in the air and with the wing back system he should be good at right wing back with his ability.

Having thought a little more about yesterday I believe the biggest problem was there was no real outlet. We usually bypass the midfield as I have already said and the outball was always to either Danny (who looked to be struggling with the back injury) or Lawrence (who just cant play in our system up front). We missed having Bertie up there. When the ball was given away Billericay counter attacked with pace and exposed our lack of it. Really then we must play Bertie and Danny up front and make sure that if Keister is playing then we need Lawrence in there with him to as CK says screen the defence.

In my mind I have made sense of what happened. Must admit though I was really gutted yesterday but now I have got a bit of positivity back.

Since when has Hockton been good in the air ?

Why do we always put players in positions they are not comfortable with.

We would be better with Protheroe at right back and stop gaps in midfield-as you say-unless Gradley plays, we mnay aswell not have a midfield anyway

Alan Blackburn must have been the best i.m.o. in the air in my time of watching the gate. No doubts.Used to soar so high to the ball.It was amazing.

I agree with MM that I too havent seen too much in the way of aerial ability from Hockton...as yet...despite that one goal that has been mentioned. I too didnt see it "live" but I think I saw it on a video of the game & I didnt think he actually outjumped anyone to score. Still, I am sure we will see more of his abililities come to the fore in time.

Having just seen the video again,it looked like their defender jumped too soon, missed the ball completely & Hockton was behind the player with only one other player there, who was behind Hockton, thereby leaving an easy header to score. Though he didnt really have a defender challenging him for the ball he did get his feet off the ground so maybe he IS better than I have seen previously. Am sure he is, as his record must have included many high balls for headers. Maybe someone knows the statistics for his goals from the past. Would be interesting to know just how many goals he HAS scored from headers.Am sure that ALL of his true abilities will be seen in the future though,in time. Would rather have him in our team than out of it whether he's good in the air or not.
