Stevenage Borough versus Gravesend & Northfleet Boro,s View

Boro are back in Conference action at home this Saturday for the first time since that potentially damaging defeat to Burton. Seeing a 2-0 lead slip at Broadhall Way could have been disastrous for Graham Westley’s side but they have bounced back excellently to claim four points from trips to Exeter and runaway leaders Accrington. Three more points against Liam Daish’s Gravesend would keep the momentum going as Boro look to maintain their place in the top five.

Gravesend find themselves in mid-table as the season reaches its climax. With 45 points on the board, Daish, who played in the Premiership with Coventry under Gordon Strachan, knows that his side aren’t quite good enough to go up and not bad enough to go down. They have a decent away record with five wins, five draws and six defeats, but they have only notched up 18 goals in those 16 fixtures. Their 2-0 victory over Tamworth last week was their first win in seven matches. Charlie McDonald is the Fleet’s leading marksman this season with 14 goals in all competitions.

Boro won down in Kent in the reverse fixture back in October and no less will do on Saturday. Darryn Stamp has bagged three goals in three games and will be looking to continue that excellent goal scoring form as Boro make that final push in the race for the Football League.
