Good Publicity

Recommended Posts

For Reading Fc as they are invited to open a play area in SLOUGH, which has been created with help from lottery grants, the local housing association and the council.

Fiona Mactaggart using it as a good old publicity hike; maybe she forgot which was the most local team since she last visited against Yeading and Walsall (Where we had about another 1,300 fair weather fans)

Seeing she is such a massive fan of the Rebels, I'm sure her sponsorship form is bristling with sponsors, and we all look forward to seeing her on the walk.

As for calling Marcus a tory boy! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Liam, the masses will always believe that the opposing political party will help them more, the worse the problems becoem the more the support for the oppsoitiuon increases and the more extreme the opposition becomes, IE NAZI'S, now if they were in charge we might get a ground. The polish club would be in trouble though....

BAD JOKE APOLOGY IF ANYONE IS OFFENDED....

Chance would be a fine thing... Can we practice that on Saturday at Staines? I reckon you'll last two minutes at best!

I was all for the idea when I first heard as it sounded like the cameras would follow Eddie & Westy to show what they do and the prep they go through, but the more I hear about it, the less enamoured I am to the idea.

But, as has been said above, if Eddie, Westy, Roy and Kevin McGoldrick approve it, it can't be that bad, can it?

Oh yes it can.... If they decide to make a TV programme they want to sell (i.e. money, money, money) the thing most likely to sell it is doing an old fashioned demolition job. Where simpler to do that than Slough? It's an easy target after recent other programmes, no need to set the scene for the viewers, they'll already be looking for a laugh. Why do you think they picked Slough and not Bromley or Leyton or Harrow?

Sorry, but this whole thing has bad vibes....... And if my fears are proved right, how do you think the Council and the citizens will react to the Club walking willingly, like lambs to the slaughter and being the butt of another joke aimed at making the town a laughing stock?

I know I always err on the pesimistic side but on this occasion, I think I'm right. The people making this "programme" have absolutely no affinity with Slough as a place or as a football team. Therefore, whatever they serve up in the name of selling airspace, they can walk away afterwards and not give a stuff.

We have enough of a problem making people understand the level of devotion and commitment that people put into football at our level without someone that doesn't care coming along, and potentially making it seem like a pub outfit followed by a bunch of freaks because that's sure as hell how people will look at it. If we're that short of a couple of thousand pounds I'll walk to bloody Worthing again and raise it that way rather than this.

The guy from Bravo said we were recommended becuase of our level of support not just our league position, support being something which he thought was excellent on Saturday.

Obviously this may have just been a bit of flattery to get the fans backing but thast is what he said at the time.
