Morecambe matchday thread

A good performance yesterday, we were definately worth a draw. Kezie was awesome, even though he didn't score I would say that was the most impressed by him that I have been.

We had a very good shout for a penalty turned down in injury time, as Minton broke through but was clearly held back. Still, you can't win em all, but playing like that we certainly won't be losing as often as we were post-Xmas.

This must be the first match of the season I have agreed with the substitutions!

Im sorry but how can you say that? You wasnt there and im not questioning your support in any way. Kezie Ibe was supurb yesterday, thier defence couldnt get near him, won every header, kept every ball, didnt miss place a pass and as always worked hard. Boylan was the one that needed to be taken off as Morecombe had clearly done thier homwork on him and he didnt get a sniff. It was the wrong decision to take him off if it was a tactical switch.

As for the game a point would of been a fair result. M'combe didnt look no better that us as we matched them in every department but once Ibe had gone off we didnt look like we had anything upfront. It was a real battling performance that every player played thier part and done it well. We could of sneaked an equaliser in injury time but the ref bottled a blatant penalty decision, thier defender trying to swap shirts with mints before the final whistle.

Overall an excellent performance that we didnt deserve to be coming home empty handed. Well done Yellows keep up the hard work and there will be a chance we could sneak into that top half.

Tend to agree with you Gary about Ibe and the substitutions.

It was a good all round team performance. Perhaps now we have moved away from the relegation battle and Lee is back the lads have settled and can get on and play with a little less pressure.

Felt Conroy did well and didn't look out of place.

Ibe was causing their defence all sorts of problems - my only criticism was that he seemed so determined to score that at times I felt he was a tad greedy and could have released the ball - especially just prior to him being subbed when he took on around three players at the edge of the box whilst a nice little through ball after he avoided the first player would have been better IMHO.

To be honest I didn't think the substitutions gave us anything that we didn't already have - in fact I felt we lost a little bit of the width after the subs started.

Overall we could have got a point against a Morecambe side that didn't look as good as the side that came to Park Lane. Felt Morecambe created the better chances with Danny doing a superb one on one save. Did feel we had a deserved shout for a penalty at the end when Mints was "dragged" back - but with the ref (who I felt had a decent game) in line but behind Mints and Minton taking a touch he didn't give anything.

I suppose it shows how much we did press the Morecambe defence when I believe their defender - Blackburn - won the Man Of The Match award.

Overall a decent performance which I hope carries forward to Forest Green.
