Interesting to note that the reason for his departure has been explained quite clearly on there, in contrast to the lack of official explanations in the case of others who have left in sketchy circumstances (e.g. Tostao, Lew Watts, Lee Shearer).

What did lee say "He likes to play the long ball", christ everyone knows that. What a p*ss poor excuse to try to get rid of a player, who was a conference level player. I for one will miss Lee, and hopefully I will bump into him one day, and apologise as a fleet fan for the way he was treated in his final months at the club.

Frankly, if anyone deserves to be sacked it is Liam, for the countless reasons given on other threads. After all, can you be sacked to telling the truth in a private conversation to a friend?

Looks to me this a whitewash story to cover the board's poor judgement in appointing Daish, then not admitting to his failings.

So do you lot think it's right for Lee to let all of his team mates down like that then?

Well, again, that depends on what was said. If he hauled out a blackboard and went through the Fleet's 'tactics' with Stevenage then, yes, it's a disciplinary offence.

However, if he casually told his mate that in all likelihood if they went two up, we weren't likely to score two, and that the strikers would probably not be up to much unless supplied on the floor... well, any fool can read that on a message board.

Lee Protheroe loved this club and would have done anything for us, if he did something to harm us he must have been really at the end of his tether.

However I do not think this is the case, the Stevenage guy probably asked why he left 'Fleet with Lee replying that he didn't agree with Daish's tactics, explained what they were and it's all something out of nothing.

Westley watched us a few times before we played Satanage, I would imagine he got all the info that he needed on our tactics in those games and wouldn't have needed what Lee said.

Reading both the official website and the local press, the reasons given by the club for 'sacking' Protheroe appear to be pretty 'lame' at best.

It is unlikely that he could have told his mate anything other than what is in the public domaine anyway...ie the team are struggling through injuries and a subsequent lack of confidence, we have very little experience, are likely to be playing players out of position and resort to route 1 at every opportunity.

Much as though I dislike Graham Westley and Stevenage Borough Football Club, they aren't idiots and probably had a representative at the previous match anyway, so were being told nothing that they didn't know already.

What the hell are the players meant to do, ignore friends just because they happen to play for opposing clubs.

I support many of the comments made already, this has been used as an excuse to get rid one of the clubs few 'quality' players and is a decision that has already come back to haunt the club with the continuing list of injuries and suspensions.
