An interesting play-off possibility?

I have had a brief exchange with some of those nice people from the Muff concerning the position if clubs qualify in 2nd-5th spot in the League but do not qualify for a place in the Conference Nationale. Here's a possibility posed by one of 'em - I have forgiven his omission of 'City':

"So on the last day of the season we could end up with the following scenario.

St Albans are top but only on goal difference from Weymouth. The teams in 3rd and 4th place are guaranteed to finish in those positions can't be promoted. The team in 5th place can be promoted and can only be overhauled by 6th place Lewes if they slip up.

Weymouth will be champions if they get a better result than St Albans or they win by 5 goal more than them.

With 10 minutes to go Weymouth are 1-0 up and St Albans are 2-0 up; and the title is just about decided. The 5th placed team are currently drawing. As things stand Weymouth will play the 5th placed team in the play-off final.

However if Weymouth were to concede two late goals then they would be automatically promoted as Lewes would overhaul the 5th placed team and take the final play-off position and all of the teams in the play-off places (bar Weymouth) could not compete in the play-offs."

I thinkhe might be right!

It's all rumours, cw96.

Eastleigh haven't applied to be accepted in the Conference Nationale. Farnborough have ..err ..err ..umm financial difficulties. Those nice people at Cambridge City weren't going to be playing in the ConfSouth, let alone the play-offs for promotion next season - until an announcement today, that is. Lewes's ground, the nicest in the League for me, has no chance of Conference grading.

But it's all rumour. The Conference are to make an announcement after Apil 1st, allegedly.

So what's happening with Cambridge City, AFF? Is the merger not going ahead now?

Do try to keep up, Yellow.

There has been some announcement to the effect that their nice Chairman chap has done a deal with the developers what he has sold the ground to that permits The Mighty ..err..err ..er Whites? to stay at their ground for another season. Rejoicing in the streets. Arthur Eastham has been given the freedom of the City and all is well. Allegedly.

I wouldn't trust the bloke as far as I could throw him.

Yellow! It's all rumours mate!

Talking of rumours, Yellow. Is there a bus service from Canvey Island to Chelmsford on Saturdays? Will you be wearing a claret scarf next season?

Funnily enough a bus service from Canvey to Chelmsford is starting this summer.

The only claret scarf I'll be wearing will be the claret and blue of West Ham. Just a nasty rumour started by someboddy to get a bit of publicity. Wouldn't be surprised if the NLP started it!!!
