The ridiculous comments made regarding Rawle from the more mature supporters behind the goal in the second half were mindboggling.

When asked if Rawle was also supposed to invent time travel so he could score from his own cross there was no reply.

To those complaining that the season is dead (and you are mainly correct), we've at least got a cup final to hopefully provide a pleasant end to the season.

Couldn't disagree more .. All the while we are the top club in the KSC it is pointless and provides no sense of achievement , however LDV participation will be a first. so qualification from a football stance first and then a club stance second is the only thing left of importance.

A fair point about the LDV qualification. The strange thing is, if we do satisfy the ground and league position criteria and qualify for it, people probably won't turn up for those games either, judging by the woefully low attendance figures in the competition for League and non-league teams alike.

As for your description of the KSC as 'pointless' if we are the top club who enters it, I certainly wouldn't go that far. At the moment, the KSC final is a more appealing prospect than some of the league games we've got coming up.

The KSC does provide a medium in which our squad players such as Kerr get a chance for a competetive game. I guess a local knockout cup is better than the old Kent Floodlit league, but obviously few fans are interested in the early games.

Perhaps the cup would be better served by playing all the rounds before the league campaigns begin in earnest, in July and August, during long, warm sunny evenings, and would add some spice to otherwise deadly boring pre-season friendlies.

Unfortunately it is often the case that, if a competition is suddenly seen as 'Mickey Mouse', the best teams will no longer try hard enough. Examples include the League Cup, the LDV trophy and the FA Trophy. Ambivolence towards cup competitions is rife throughout the country, sadly.
