Call me old-fashioned, but you know how, at big tournaments and important games, the opposing captains will exchange pennants or plaques when shaking hands on the centre-spot after the toss.

 

I'm thinking of suggesting to Gibbo that we should commission one with "Congartulations to the Muff - Conference South Champions 2005/06" for Lee Clarke to present to their bloke prior to kick-off at The Wessex stadium on April 17th.

 

A suitable mark of respect. On the back, we could have the result from Clarence Park and the names & times of the goal scorers engraved, perhaps. It will need to be a large size, rather than regular of course, to accommodate the four.

If the points, goal difference etc are exactly level at the end of the season, do they decide the title on the results between the two teams? If so that 4-0 *could* come in useful.

Nade has turned down an offer from the Muff allegedly and returned to the Eddie Stobarts - the chap who gets £50,000 a year to take the team-sheet from the manager to the referee one hour before kick-off except when Carlisle are playingh in England will be pleased.

 

They will do well to find anyone to score a goal per game in the remaining fixtures, let alone 9 more than we will.
