Margate under 18's 2- Folkstone invicta 3

Ray Baker and Mark, my boy and Myself plus the odd parent sums up Sundays crowd at Hartsdown park. The only high light of the game was, erm, erm, erm, sorry can't think of any. Oh yes the folkstone no 11 lost the ball then took a vicious swipe at the gaaaate players shins poleaxing him. The refs reaction was to walk away and joke with other players. Not even a booking, he should have walked no question. To add insult to injury he scored the winner. The true result though should have been Gate 2 Folkestone 10 or maybe 15. People go on about local talent,1 minute before KO the gate only had 10 players then another turned up, so they had to play with eleven men and no subs. Sorry to be so negative but local talent as to get it [****!!****] into gear there is football to be played and opportunity if only they could find the time and put themselves out a little. As i said sorry to be so negative but that's how it was.

Blueblood hope things improve with time as with all teams that are brought together quickly it is not easy, so I guess the older age groups are having this problem attracting players as they are already settled elsewhere. In time the younger age groups will progress as they are already showing promising results, and seem to be managed well, so hopefully in 3-4 years we will have an excellent u18s to go with the reserves and see some quality youth progressing. As I have said before we need some good management to keep the youngsters on the right track. I'm glad to say the u13s in particular seem to have this now which is great to see.

Had a word with CK about the u18,s after the game was called of week saterday,i was telling him about two local younsters who are scoring regulaly on sundays and who had been driven away from the youth set up by the players telling them to pee off or else. CK was not happy and said to get the two to come along and talk to him and if impressed he would arrange for them to go to a 1st team training session. CK also gave me the impression that things in this area are being taken in hand for next season.
