What a difference a Jay makes

It was great to see Jay back in the side yesterday and although Tamworth aren't the biggest test we looked a lot more solid in midfield both defensively and going forward with Jay fighting for everything.

I'm not convinced about James Smith as a striker but at least Liam was prepared to try something different and as James scored one and was involved in the other even Liams harshest critics would have to concede that it wasn't too bad an idea. For me the telling moment came when James was clear through in the second half with Mark alongside him and James hit a weak early shot, to be fair to James, with the exception of Charlie, none of the other forwards we have tried this season would have scored either but they would have taken the ball ten yards further forward before hitting it straight at the keeper/blazing it over the bar.

Jacko had a good game and Slatts played well in the second half, Ross and Craig were solid as ever.

After the previous few matches it was good to watch the boys win...more of the same on Tuesday please.

"Tamworth aren't the biggest test" - how true - I'm still fearful of what might happen next Saturday against Satanage.

 

I recall only 1 shot on target from Tamworth all game - that didnt arrive until something like the 71st minute, and even that was straight into Craig's midrift. Apart from that, they must have only had half a dozen off target efforts as well.
