Well to say it was a cold icy windy place at Chatham is the equivalent of saying is the Pope Catholic. This has to have been the coldest and windiest place Town has visited this season.

Chatham started positively with an attack early on but Cousins and his defence enjoyed the opening attack. Down at the other end we won a corner and Lee Smith stepped up to take it. On 5 minutes the cross came in short onto the head of Al J and Paul Campbell trapped and smashed it along the ground through a mêlée of players and surprisingly through the keeper’s legs and into the net. 0 – 1 thank you very much. Chants of dodgy keeper echoed around the ground. Niall Ritchie had the no 3 in his pocket and his jinking run to the by line and cut across left Dean Nyman just feet short from a second goal in an open net. Chatham won a corner for Cousins to come and save. At the other end Dean Nyman shot wide. Matty Negus was tackling back well. On 19 minutes Bryan Hammatt took a shot which rebounded and he made no mistake with his second attempt. 0 – 2. Eventually this keeper saved. Steve Velandia started to look like Ronaldinho with his Columbian showboating skills. David Allen tackling back to deny the Chatham no 11. Chatham’s best chance of a goal was a header right across the goal mouth which Cousins tracked to ensure it went out. Kevin Stephens gaining in confidence and really enjoying his football tried a shot from the halfway line after some silky skills. Town won free kick and Steve Velandia curled it just wide of the top corner. Shame! Steve Velandia fouled badly by the no 5 who was booked. Lee Smith Corner for Kevin Stephens to smash a volley at point blank range, saved! Maybe this keeper isn’t as bad as we thought. Steve Velandia fouled for jinking round a defender. Al James in the box on the left side keen to get in on the showboating attempts a successful overhead scissor kick to Bryan Hammatt who is eventually dispossessed of the ball. End of first half and we had seen some of the best Town football this season, but boy were we cold!

Second half Niall Ritchie was booked for retaliating to some dirty play from the No3 for Chatham. Lino appears to have only seen the retaliation. No 3 lucky not to get booked. A header probably going wide was saved from Lee Smith. Matty Negus in inspired form making a clean tackle, and then turning a defence into an inspirational attack. Bryan Hammatt fouled. The resultant free kick from Steve Velandia was just gathered in time with Bryan Hammatt moving in fast to gather. Dean Nyman volleying past the post. The no 2 then fouled Bryan Hammatt at knee height with a reckless challenge that cracked around the ground leaving town fans fearful of a break. But Bryan played on. A shot from Lee Smith was gathered. Dean Nyman almost had a one on one with the keeper but the ball fell luckily for the keeper to save. Niall Ritchie score but is adjudged to be offside. Shame! Johnny Morgan on for Bryan Hammatt, Trevor Paul on for Niall Ritchie. A Matty Negus shot was deflected by a Chatham player for a goal kick! Lee Smith headed past the post. A Chatham Town Free Kick curled round the post. Ashley St Louis on for Steve Velandia.

3 wonderful points and much of the first half was exhibition football of the highest standard.

Great performance by the team yesterday.Formation and tactics are really gelling now.At last it seems we are firing on all cylinders and playing to our full potential, and what a good side we look, when we do.

Ritchie was my MOM again yesterday, but every player contributed to a very solid and impressive performance.Keep up this form lads, and it'll be Ryman premiership football next season.

Good result played in freezing conditions.

I seem to have written something similar last week, but why did we change our attacking options after half time? Niall was murdering their number 3 and he always looked dangerous. After half time, he had to go looking for the ball.

Must say though, his fancy footwork to leave their number 5 scratching his head wondering where he had gone was worth the £7.00.

Any thoughts on the programme? I thought it was good to see the sponsorship page giving all readers options as to what they could sponsor. Don't think it would be good in every programme, but at least it's a way of spreading the news.

Good shout on Ritchie LS, really is a "diffrent gravy".
Also is great to have a genuine "Super Kev" on the park as in Kevin Stephens, outstanding.

Oh by the way I would rather it be Southern Premiership football than Ryman, but hey ho.....

Thought it was excellent preformance on Saturday, especially in the first half. I must say despite my reservations that Al-James as been outstanding since he join. His experience and attitude made him the perfect captain in Rudi's absence. I also must agree that we do indeed have a new Super Kev.

Suddenly I now know where I was goin wrong with Bryan. I should have offered him £50 for 30 goals in the season in August last year.

However, bit worried that some of our players are getting to girly. Gloves! Gloves! Surely they are just for Frenchman. Good to see Al-James with no gloves and sleeves rolled up.

Don't you think that the other side might be changing their tactics and forcing someone like Niall to play differently?

Perhaps "Club Gloves" should be on the Player Kit sponsorship section for next season !
Good performance at Chatham. Just keep it going.

Club gloves are already available if you want to sponsor one of the team to wear them...

I thought Town were excellent in first 30 minutes and it was a great performance overall. Last couple of games we have been really strong against opponents going for play off places.

Really think JC deserves loads of praise for getting such a strong team and squad together.

Was sitting amongst the Chatham fans a number of whom made comments about what a good team we were in that ist half...
