You've got a good young prospect playing up front, you talk him up for ages then when he isn't doing it for you you leave him on the bench for 85 minutes and play a defender instead. Why?

Because the defender scored one goal and made the other in a two nil win.
Why was the good young prospect left on the bench? Hmmm, tricky.....do you think it might have something to do with the 'when he isn't doing it for you bit'?
Maybe Liam just fancied a win and figured it wouldn't happen if we didn't score.

Why doesn't Daish make substitutions before the final monments of the game, unless of course a player is injured? He should take a leaf out of Mouriniho's book and start bringing players on after 26 minutes.

Daish told the bbc "We played 4-5-1 at York last week and looked dangerous"

I don't mean to be negative but even whitebucket's depressed about our current situation, I'm not blaming me being depressed about things on Ed I've felt like this for a couple of weeks.

A team that plays badly yet wins is the sign of a good team and every good team is built on a decent defence yet we don't seem to have the managerial staff to exploit teams weakness'. I don't claim to be Brian Clough or have any tactical nouse so therefore I'm not a manager.

If Daish manages to be the man to take us to the football league or even to the next level I'll eat my words but it just doesn't look like it.

I couldn't have put it better myself, Harry.
I said last week that I had started to question whether Liam was the right man to take us to the next level - only to be lambasted from certain posters for having the timerity to say so.
Perhaps WVN and Riverview Red are more correct than we hate to admit.

The trouble is CG that whatever you say on this forum, particularly if it in anyway is critcial of the manager or the board, you will get criticised by those that will continue to see things through 'rose-tinted' glasses.

I don't know who RR is, but like me I would suggest that the only reason he spends time on this forum is because he deeply cares about what is happening at Stonebridge Road.

If "we are more correct than you like to admit", I can assure you it does not give me any pleasure. I would very much like to be proved wrong.

Agreed. That turned out to be a smart move. Luke Moore isn't a bad player, but he's not scoring is he.. To be honest I don't think we would have won that game if Luke Moore had started. Probably would have been 0-0

For rose tinted, read Fleet Establishment. There are still those out there who think this has been a satifactory season. No amount of arguement or debate will change that.

i don't think I fall into the Fleet establishment category. But if we finish top half then that is a satisfactory league position for a club of our size, there is no arguement or debate about that.

Although I take the point that the manner we are achieving it, is not the manner that most would like.

But then again when we had players like Kwashi , Manny , Moussa and Hegley etc . whom I would regard as entertainers albeit lightweight ones, the crowds got on their backs as we wanted more consistent performers. I know they got flak and in some case ridicule from the terraces , but it was players like those mentioned that got the fans to get those turnstiles clicking .

Aha I have stumbled on what you lot want, consistent entertainers.

dream on if you think a club of our size will attract them .

If the season were to end now, I could only give it 4/10.
Win the KSC will add a point, so will 5 more wins.

It depends what you base your points score on. Of course, if based on entertainment it will be rather low. But in terms of attainment, while the cups were bitterly disappointing, an 11th-place finish would be highly satisfactory.

But as I've said, whether Liam is the right man or not, we would be achieving above ourselves resources-wise if we reached the play-offs.

Indeed - credit should be given to Liam on this occasion for attempting a surprising tactical alteration and having it pay off.

However, whether James would be successful up front against more miserly Conference defences (i.e. pretty much all of them) remains to be seen. Hopefully Charlie will be back soon and back to form, and then we won't necessarily need to find out either way.

Because it's written into his contract (or at least it would be if he wasn't here on a non-contract basis) that he has to come on for a only a couple of minutes at the end of each game.

As a footnote to Saturday's game, it was good to see Jay back in the starting line-up, and the return of Ross was welcome too, of course. Oh, and Tamworth were the worst side we've played this season, narrowly edging out Canvey's display at Stonebridge Road.

So it worked because he scored when he knew very little about the goal? Oh and he made another but apart from that he didn't look all there.

Another well argued debate from the strange world of Slartibartfast.

This season has been satisfactory. I'm concearned with the tactical abillity of our manager.

think I would rather be top of the conference, that go up and then be bottom or even relegated straight back down.I think we need a couple years of good football at top of the conference, get the fans in, and give ourselves a good financial footing to then go on the promotion trail with.

So rather than play a forward who scores no goals he played a defender up front who scored one and made one which got us three points, you are right Harry that is a well argued debate but you would have preferred a nil nil draw.

True. All the talk about play-offs is all very well, but as a club we're nowhere near ready for league football. We'd be absolutely murdered. Establishing ourselves as a decent Conference side and attaining a new ground must be priorities before we even start to think about a higher level of football.
