The Union Flag is only called 'Jack' when it is flying from a ship!

WAS only called a Union Jack when flown from a ship.Its meaning and useage has changed through the years,especially the last 40 years.As do the meaning and relevance of many words.

As for St Patricks day.Its just an excuse for a p*ss-up.Try banning all drinking on that day, and see how willing people are to still celebrate it.

At least we don’t see the Union Flag much these days. Scotland fly the Rampant Lion and their St. Andrews flag, the Welsh have their dragon, the Irish have the tricolor. In England we are afraid to display the Cross of St. George due to associations with the far right.

I am proud to be both British and English and feel lucky to class myslef as both. As far as I am concerned Ireland is as foreign as France, Japan and Iraq.

so does that pride include the 6 counties of Norther Ireland?

Of course I am proud of Northern Ireland. As I stated earlier in this thread I am proud to be a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I have nothing against the ROI, I just don't see why we get all worked up about their national day!
