Not a fascist. Just don't see why we have to have St. Patricks Day rammed down our throats every year. That w*nker the mayor of London prefers to celebrate the day more than St. Georges Day. Wish he'd feck off over to Ireland for good.

He is also Patron Saint of Turkey too. It's got nothing to do with who the patron saint is. It is all about celebrating your own national day. The yanks do it on July 4 and Thanksgiving. We should make more of our national day , not others.

Well said Mr. Happy! I’m all for celebrating other cultures national days and festivals – in England we don’t need much of an excuse to gatecrash someone else’s party or celebration! We should be able celebrate our own national day without fear of the PC brigade.

Wherever you go in the world you will see flags and national icons displayed proudly. At least we don’t see the Union Flag much these days. Scotland fly the Rampant Lion and their St. Andrews flag, the Welsh have their dragon, the Irish have the tricolor. In England we are afraid to display the Cross of St. George due to associations with the far right.

Enjoy the craic and the black stuff tonight. Slanche to one and all!

No he wasn't Irish but English and sold into slavery.

I am proud to be English and will only celebrate St George's day, you know where you can stick the rest!!!!!

I checked the web link Brunob. It's pretty good but it could do with an update. Especially since the World Cup is coming up and bearing in mind that some idiot has mooted the idea that England fans should be been banned from humming the Dambusters tune! How can that happen?

I'm still looking forward to a few pints of the black stuff tonight. It is afterall a great 'English' drink!

The Union Flag is only called 'Jack' when it is flying from a ship!

Well said Mr H, did you see how much it cost the taxpayer for his "Jewish Jibe"?

The man was an ar$e 20 yrs ago in his loony left days, dont see much has changed now, how on earth did he get to be voted mayor?

Good to see the St. George cross more and more. However, I also love to see the Union Flag too. Along with the other home nations we make up a unique United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This is something that should be treasured. Together we are strong. our lads fight side by side overseas. We all share a special history (not all good I accept but we are stronger together). I am proud to be both British and English and feel lucky to class myslef as both. As far as I am concerned Ireland is as foreign as France, Japan and Iraq.

Yaeh, yeah. We,ve heard it all before. And lions are not actually native to England, so why have them on our football shirts....Blah..Blah.Typical response of the Left.Put down your own traditions and culture, and celebrate and embrace everyones elses. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Self-hatred has a lot to answer for.
