Ground Improvements......

Softie,

Agree 100%, there are more than one or two games which could prove very difficult in our run-in.

I am sure we all have thoughts about which fixtures are the potential slip-ups.

Every game will be like a cup final as we try to maintain that second spot.

Let's leave all this talk about next season until the day after THIS season ends.

Then we will know what we are planning for and when it is needed etc.

COME ON U TOWNERS.

Softie old bean, I trust that is not the offical view of the Board? Of course we must not take promotion for granted, not by a long chalk. But it would be ridiculous to refuse to plan for a higher level of play until promotion was assured. You cannot plan, fund, obtain permission and build significant ground improvements over the close season. Even the year's grace that seems to be allowed not may not suffice, because as we know, it cannot always be done over a whole season.

Still no-one has said where the ground requirements are published though.

Why not? What I responded to was the statement that we should be planning for Conference level. I want to get into the next league first and get the grading well underway so we don't go straight back down again for not having the work done.

FrankenRoy are working hard on the work to ensure compliance with ground criteria. When the time is right FrankenRoy will focus our attention on the next Level and knowing them as I do I'm sure they already have been looking at what is needed for Conference and mulling it over in their minds but one step at a time.

Ah right, ok Softie, so we are as one then!

Although (just to keep the full half-hour arguement going, not just the five minutes) I would say that sound management would look to the long and medium term future as well as the short term i.e. always look at least two promotions ahead.

Sure, but what are the standards, where are they published, when were they announced? How do they differ from the old standards?

Could we get round it by going up, then wining promotion next year from Ryman/Southern Premier and thus having another year to upgrade to that standard....... and so on? Are we ok for the UEFA Cup?

Up to now, I have only seen other peoples' interpretation of the new FA grading rules as they apply to us. I have located the 'anchor point' for the grading document in the FA website, and can see that the document itself has been withdrawn for revision.
Following discussions at last night's board meeting, I have now received a complete copy of the Jan/06 draft of the document and could forward copies to those who desperately need to read all 51 pages etc.

Anyone wanting a copy, please contact me with a PM.

Why not just put the draft document on here as a link? Is that possible? It would save you plenty of time responding to each individual. Maybe it could be pasted onto the home page of the etfc website?

Nice idea Andy, but am unable to attach the file to a posting here as it is too large. I will have to explore the possibility of making it available via the website.
