Ground Improvements......

Southport - Towner.

Checked with a local Ryman Premier club who were unaware that the 250 seats had to be together. The FA have not posted the ground grading criteria on their web site so I was just pointing out that it could be possible to kill two birds with one stone!

It's worth looking into, isn't it?

Yes so it depends on how deep Town fans dig deep into their pockets as to what gets done and when

Does anyone know how much a covered terrace on the open end would cost?
Whether it was "home made" or the same as the other end?

But it is also important for the board to listen to the wishes of the fans.

that is one of the reasons we are having a members meeting;

maybe those supporters who have their own business' would like to sponsor the new seats and help the club out?

Maybe it is time to dust off Top Gun's idea and see if it is the right time. The drawings looked fine. As I recall it was to build a shelter like the one at Waltham Forest to provide covered Terrace at the railway end. Top Gun had set aside some materials to build it so it was just the building permission, labour and concrete to build it.

At the moment Town have a team and support that is far better than its ground.... Waltham forests ground is a good example of a team (not as good) with much less fans who have a better ground...

I think if the ground improved so would the crowds.Especially with more covered places to stand..

If it can be done cheaply then it should be given VERY SERIOUS consideration.

guys this really is old ground, that we, as members have given vert serious consideration to, on more than one occasion, in meetings and around the ground.

FACT There is not the money, no matter how cheap you do it.
FACT The few people that turn upto help are fullt deployed.
FACT it is non essential work.

It really is that simple.

we have tens of thousands of pounds worth of work to do to meet the requirement for the next level.

what do you want to do? go and dig out the footings, have your erection at the far end; and then not be allowed to progress because we have not met the ground criteria?

I am not aware of anyone who does not want cover at the far end; but like everything else in life it is about priorities

i am sure that just like Andy did, if you have something constructive to add, take it to the board

I think that a lot of people would be willing to give or raise money for a covered end(I definetely would). And i think that crowds would increase if both ends were covered. This extra money would help the club go forwards and thats what everyone wants...

It is surely ludicrous to even consider doing non-essential works, however desirable they may be, if there are outstanding works that are essential for the necessary ground grading for promotion. I can't understand why this would even be a debating point.

I am however deeply concerned that here we are in March and we are suddenly told that the ground is not, or may not be, suitable for Step 3. Was this always known? I thought we had a "B" grade under the old system and that was ok for Ryman/Southern Prem? Where are the new grading regulations - the FA have removed them from the website: has the FA informed us of new standards?

Sure, but what are the standards, where are they published, when were they announced? How do they differ from the old standards?

Could we get round it by going up, then wining promotion next year from Ryman/Southern Premier and thus having another year to upgrade to that standard....... and so on? Are we ok for the UEFA Cup?

What is the thousands of pounds of work that needs doing for us to meet the criteria for us to progress to the next level?

Im sure if a "proper" request for fans to turn up to make this happen was made, it would happen!

Maybe im just a born optimist but i think the team and its supporters need facilities that reflect what a great team we have and what great support the Town has.
I can see us doing really well next season and we could go up AGAIN!!!!!!! So its important to look at the ground improvements needed not just for Rymans or Southern League premier but onto Conference South... [****!!****] i know ....I'm getting carried away but ive seen a few games at that level this season and on form the Town would be more than a match for anyone IMO.

next season will NOT look after itself; the owners need to do more to ensure development both on and off the pitch.

The assumption that someone else will do the work or put their hand in their pocket has got to end, soon, the owners of this club need to get more involved

If WE want something, guess what, no one else is going to do it; unless you want another TONY L involved?

Let's complete this season first. Next season can look after itself

You lot are planning the next promotion and we haven't won this one yet is what I mean. No problem with forward thinking but we have to beat Sittingbourne on Saturday and that has to be our priority first. I'll worry about next season when we have this promotion in the bag and not before. We could still have a few banana skins before the end of the season so let's focus on winning this second place.
