Ground Improvements......

Fingers crossed for promotion, the club needs to make certain improvements 100 extra seats etc...

And need to raise the money 4 them.

And i think that the club badly needs to put a covered terrace on the open end... But they dnt have the money.

I just wonder if it would not be worth starting a general appeal amongst fans to get the money to do something at that end,not too sure how much it would cost, but i'm sure quite a few fans might chip in or come up with some fundraising ideas.

think it would help to increase the attendances and create a better atmosphere at home games..

A proposal was put forward by some fans a couple of years ago. Top Gun drew up some plans and it wouldn't have cost much at all. It all went quiet after that. I do agree with you. It would be grat to create better atmosphere throughout a game.

The plans for the far end were considered and the board discussed with TG.

bottom line, we need 1,000's of pounds for essential work; and the far end would take, time, money and planning permission, none of which we have.

I am sure that if it is proposed at the members meeting 6th April, it will get a positive hearing; but the materiality is years away

Maybe it is time to dust off Top Gun's idea and see if it is the right time. The drawings looked fine. As I recall it was to build a shelter like the one at Waltham Forest to provide covered Terrace at the railway end. Top Gun had set aside some materials to build it so it was just the building permission, labour and concrete to build it.

Do bear in mind that planning permission is not received by return of post!

As I've said before, it is likely that Building Regulations consent will also be required. There are quite complex codes and standards governing sports grounds, which our board will be aware of, like the minimum loads barriers can withstand and so on.

Presumably the situation regarding ground improvements, promotion, planning permission, the price of brussel sprouts and what Jim has for breakfast will be described to the membership at the forthcoming meeting.

Will there be a means of disseminating this information to members unable to attend? For example, could a copy of the minutes be forwarded, upon reciept of a stamped addressed envelope?

In the next newsletter courtesy of FrankenRoy. The intention is to discuss FrankenRoy's plan at the meeting. Comments from members can be submitted by email from those not attending but those present may well have a greater input as a result of being at the meeting.

If we need an extra 100 seats, then why not apply for planning permission and put those behind the Railway End goal? Somewhere for people to stand/sit?

Seats behind the goal are a BAD idea, people cant stand behind the goal and the singers cant move about and get together easily.
I never liked that arrangement at Billericay.

Seems to me these are two separate issues. Additional seats will be required for level 3. I understand that there is no requirement to provide seating for away supporters (in a segregated game) but that strikes me as a typical rule that the powers that be could easily change to make a name for themselves. I think it would be prudent to consider the ability to segregate when planning for additional seats.

As for cover behind the goal, I think it would be hard to see it as more than a 'nice to have', rather than a priority, at the moment.

Agree there Bru, the seats could go in the cowshed could they not?

I personally think that it would be preferable to wait until we can afford matching terracing behind the away goal,as to what we have at the home end.(Southbury Rd sytle). It would also have the advantage of being able to be moved as well,if and when, we move to a new ground in the future.

PS..Could we fit the same size stand behind the away end?

I dont like the idea of seats behind the goal..

How much would a terrace cost, does anyone know???

Could we get an appeal together, i think that a lot of fans would contribute and it could lead to more people coming to games and pay for itself quite quickly, especially if grants towards the costs could be secured..

I'm up for helping towards this if enough other people are interested...

Yes so it depends on how deep Town fans dig deep into their pockets as to what gets done and when

Softie,
I am sure there is "a list" within the Club.
Perhaps it would be helpful to the Supporters if a list were published of the various items which either must be done, could be done, would be nice to do etc.ie - graded.
At least that would let everyone be aware of the priorities.
Number ONE priority is of course - to get promotion !! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

you have had the answer to this when you discussed in the board room, the FA regs are that the seats must be toghether... old age must be setting in
