Only Canvey

Been looking at a few other forums and there pre-canvey game comments and it seems its not only the big boys that give us this tag it seems to be contageous even alty were saying it!!

 

 

Dont know about you guys but i quite like the tag even though i think we deserve a little more respect

i enjoy being what they see as the underdog week in week out

 

 

and then beating them!!

I don't like it, but I can understand it. We're one of, if not the, smallest club in the division. You've got to laugh at the end of the day - especially on Saturday when we do York.

I like being the underdogs but i wonder if the "pub team from Essex" tag has become outdated and doesn`t help the club`s profile with potential new supporters and sponsors.

 

We will probably be looked at as a small club for years to come but next season (barring a disaster)will be our third season in the Conference and we will be there on merit, if people don`t want to respect us then more fool them.

were not a pub team anymore we have grown out of that and are a semi-pro team doing ok at the top flight of non-league.

With our small fan base and ground, I think many clubs will still see us as such for a while to come.

I can fully understand the feelings behind the chant but i feel a lot of people on Canvey still see us as a "pub team" not a team that`s playing in a mainly professional league who are only 1 step away from league football. We need to to change that attitude somehow.

 

As fans there`s nothing better than beating a team who have disrespected us and long may it continue.

We are still relatively the new kids on the block.

 

I don’t think there is a problem if there is an “Only Canvey” tag. Sure takes any pressure on winning and we have had some cracking results this season.

 

We are still learning in all depts and I’d much rather we done this on a gradual process, rather than go up too quick and go down just as rapid.

Again, we are still relatively new at this level for a club. Each season that passes though our name is being cemented at this level and it won’t be a great surprise if we push on from here in future seasons when the time is right and if financially viable.
