Next Season's Programme

Recommended Posts

Guys,

We're in the process of starting to think about plans for the programme for next season. Anyone with any ideas for new articles, design, anything you'd like to see more of, post your responses here please. We'd like your input, as the programme is really for YOU, the fans.

Thanks

the fixture page with who played and everything.

Could that be changed, instead of having at the top of the page everyone's name and putting a dot if they played or not.

What about putting just the name down so like this:

holloway gooding smith smith skinner etc

and putting a star or a symbol if they have been subbed or scored, it would be easier then as well for the players that have left the club. Instead of having a box at the bottom of the page because you don't know what games they played in.

Another idea what about going all glossy like Dagenham's programme they are done by Queensway like so many other clubs.

Thanks

Mike

A couple of things could improve a little

1) Do we need two pages for the visiting team player profiles. One page should be ample , with a slightly smaller font.

2) The stats page is a pretty good , but for those with poor tracking (not seeing columns) a downward light line will be pretty handy. Maybe print each alternate line on a light grey/white background/

3)rename the sections so the casual fan doesnt have to hunt. IE "From The Top" should be "Fleet news"

4) Liams Comments should be the first thing you read . Move to page 4. and underneath his comments , put the Cub Information stuff.

Just a few thoughts. Content is good , How about a "ask the club page" where every 4 games , someone puts 5 questions to a board or senior club member

I like the features on away games, with info on the towns we visit, but maybe they could provide more comprehensive travel info for those of us who take the train to away games. For example, I believe the directions to Dagenham read something like 'district line tube to dagenham east', not telling us from where they left. This would be particularly useful for long-distance away games. In working out travel to Kidderminster from Surrey I spent a good 45 minutes on the National Rail website, rather than a quick look in the programme for the best route from London.

It would take some research, buy I would like to see some articles entitled "Where are they now?", dedicated to the life and careers of former Fleet favourites. We all know about Tony Sitford, Andy Woon and Steve Portway, but what about the likes of Cotter, Brian Hughes, Alan Crudace, Brian Woolfe and Srevie Brown etc.

Could be quite interesting - the club could even invite them along as guests of honour; it was really good to see Tony Sitford again last year, and what an ovation he got!!

FF is right. I suggest that you select at least one programme from, say, Exeter, Dagenham, Scarborough, York, Kidderminster and Cambridge Utd and you should immediately see that they are of a high quality. Select sactions at random and compare with our own programme. Then be as objective and honest as possible and adapt the selected sections from the other programmes, where they are actually better, into our own. Also investigate changing font types.

Other suggestions:-

I personally like to read about previous meetings with our opponents plus a look back eg 20 years ago today etc. Features on selected fans both home and away would be interesting. A "Where are they now" section would,as others have requested,be very interesting. Quotes and comments from our travelling away supporters on recent games and the welcome, facilities they encountered there is an idea .Fans "flying the flag" as it were on holiday etc would add a personal touch. Also print obituaries, birthdays etc as relevant.

Strive to produce the best product possible. One that visiting fans will admire as well as the home supporters.Spelling and grammar has improved. Keep your eye on this to prevent slipping into old poor habits.

Oh, and good luck!!!!
