Remember Stu, the players all travel as they are not told until they arrive who is to be selected to play.

True, but he's still probably not under obligation to write for the programme, appear in promotional photos, help out the Fleet Trust, etc. If he'd learned the Matt Lovell Art of Flouncing, I reckon we'd not have seen him at the ground for weeks!

Maybe he is that rare breed of footballer that actually wants to play for his club. Unlike osme who seem to give a little sweat once in a blue moon.

Very few give it there all , Jimmy is one who gives 100% and Lee another who given the chance will give 100% effort 100% of thetime for any club he is at.

Among the first to be penned on my team sheet anytime

This and all the other threads on here, regarding tactics, team selection, ambition, imagination and the ability to change to course of a losing game, have started me to question whether Liam (solid enough job that he has done) is actually the right man to take us to the next level of the Conference. (ie a strong contender for the play off, instead of settling for avoidance of relegation or mid table mediocrity.)

He hasn't got a clue and should go now if the Fleet are to progress. IMHO the club have missed a great opportunity to achieve more this season even with an average manager.

Proths should stay, the management should go!

Does anyone know the collective noun for a bunch of football fans who start of the season by saying:

'The manager hasn't got a clue, we will be down by christmas'

and then half way through the season change their moans to:

'The manager hasn't got a clue, we should be in the play-offs'?

No doubt if we were in the play-offs we would all be hearing:

'The manager hasn't got a clue, we should have won the league outright even with an average manager'

Bit misleading, calling yourself "The Truth" , when you are in denial over the true state of the club on the pitch.
Here is a bit more of the truth that hurts us all:

Whether he's the 'right man' or not, it's important to remember that if everything about the club (i.e. ground, finances, attendances etc.) at the moment is taken into account, it would have to be said that if we qualified for the play-offs this season we would have achieved above ourselves.

It's much like when people were calling for Andy's head, saying that he wasn't the right man to take us further, when it was debatable whether anyone could have done any better than mid-table in the Conference with a club with our resources.

This is our last 6 games - taken from Confguide,

P W D L F A diff pts

6 : 0 3 3 3 7 : -4 3

3 points from 18 is relegation form. Thank goodness we had a decent run earlier this year.

I would be more than happy for Liam to continue if he can demonstrate his ability to inspire and encourage us to play a more carefree, entertaining and "relaxed" brand of football.

We are safe. What or who are the players afraid of? Could it be the fear of the manager casting them aside like some others? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

If however, we are happy to remain a stable mid-table team, with little prospect of even making a play-off place, but getting into the LDV trophy from time to time, then Liam is definately our man.

It seems to me that for some of our younger supporters, these are still exciting times, playing against former league sides such as York, Hereford and Exeter.

But for us "oldies" we remember being a top 6 Alliance team, playing great football with a 4-3-3 line up. Granted, it didn't last long, but it was great at the time.

The reality is, unless success is apparent on the pitch, almost regardless of which league you play in, the fanbase will decline, which for a small club with a limited budget like ours will become an unsustainable burden.

If this decline were to continue, I could see us having to drop down, even revert back to part time, much the same as Maidstone, Dover, Welling and Margate have done.

Having said that, if we were an attacking team in the Conf. South, pushing hard for promotion in front of 1200+ gates, I would not complain.

There is still a lot more mileage in this debate before the season is out.
