Rumour .....

Wellsie

Recommended Posts

As we know there has been some speculation about a new signing over this week. Here's a name for you - not from the club but another "source" - Lee Protheroe from Gravesend.

He did come to mind before this Wellsie. Mainly because of Allman's injury and he is local to training. Also I remember our fans had a bit of a laugh with him at Gravesend once so he knows all about Margate. Plus I heard he can't get near the team at Gravesend as he's part time.

I hope we sign both of them as that will give us a fantastic defence at this level.

Porter's (potential?) release is not a surprise but I'm not sure who he would replace at Margate, partiulalry given the range of options in the middle of defence that CK has. Unless, someone already at the club goes.

Alex, he would fit in nicely at left or right wing back for us. Got a good cross on him too. A better version of Paul Lamb at his best if you like.

Personally I'd like to see another centre back brought in to give strength in depth. Porter would fit the bill as him and Trott would give fantastic experience to the back line. Then we have the option of using Hasim in midfield where I believe he is best as a defensive midfielder. I rate Pat highly though but I'm sure Hasim, Pat and Laurence would be superb as a midfield. Loads of options.

Prothers for me.

I feel he would be a much better signing-frsh blood.

Porter had his day at the gate and did well. But you should never come back-it does not work second time around.

Not sure of how he gets on with CK either these days.

Trott is the defensive capitano these days-you can only have one main man.

But Protheroe would really add something and freshen things up.

Feel he is too good for us though at this level

According to Liam Daish, Graham Porter has been released to give him a chance to rest and recover fully from the injuries that he has suffered over the last couple of seasons and, to get himself fit for next season. If what he says(on bbc radio kent)is correct then Port's will not be fit to play for us or anybody else.
