Excellent win over a decent side who haven't lost for a while. Defence looked sound with Lewis and Elphick in the middle, Seebs and Flynn as full-backs. Marwa and Davis provided energy and inspiration in the midfield, the latter receiving a yellow card for a lunge in the first half, hopefully he won't receive a suspension this season.

Hann and Walshe both had good games, and a hand in all the goals, Clarkey was superb in the second half, the only one to have a quiet game was Paul Hakim, who was substituted late on for Dean Cracknell. Both Martins sat this one out with Scott Cousins. Nick Burton has apparently been released.

Lastly a special mention for today's announcer, great to have a real 'pro' on the job, even though his choice in music is not necessarily mine (though I enjoyed the 'unbelieveable' bits).

I agree a great game especially the 2nd half. I was surprised by The robbins they certainly don't look like a team near the bottom and I would say on that performance they will stay up.

...I thought the announcer was very funny, infact his exagerated player announcements seemed to go down well and could improve the atmosphere.

Totally agree - defence looked realy solid, didn't have that feeling that I've had some times this season that we could concede a goal at any minute.

Forward line can only improve (not that they are bad now !) with the return of Simon Martin - he holds the ball up well and links up best with Lee Clarke.

We need fear no other side in this league - let the good times roll <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/jump.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/jump.gif" alt="" />

Brazilian-esque? A champagne-fest? Immaculate timing? Channels? Free-flowing? A clear statement of intent? Rythym? Seamless? Clear and concise?

Yes to all of those, a hundred times yes, and yes again.

Thornsy was terrific on the P.A on Saturday. My kind of music, too. That should bring the crowd back to the Fortress. I suggest that they should meake the Maidenhead game all ticket, and introduce segregation. £12,000 a year? You're 'avin a laugh. 3/400 a week that sort of performance will put on the gate. That's err.. err... ummm.. a lot of extra income for the club. Well done from me, mate.

T'lads on the green bit played their part in the overall theatre, and did pretty well, too.

For the first half, I thought that Carshalton were as good as any side that have visited the Fortress this season. They ceratinly work hard, and play decent football, too.

Sounds like the PA bloke was superb - good on him!

All yours then, Colin!!

Nah!
It was nice as a one off but i like my position behind the goal, if the club want to invest in a roving microphone then I'll do the scorer's from behind the goal, otherwise it's Zeals gig especically as he was after it for so long!

I'll tell you what, EFMTFTV, if you are prepared to 'give it a go', I'll have a word with "certain contacts in high places" and see if we can relax the rules that the P.A, man has to wear a blazer with club tie or crevat, and that he has to go into the boardroom for a beer and prawn sandwich at full time.

You love it, you know you do. The roar of the grease-paint, the smell of the crowd etc. etc. All that show-biz luvvy stuff. Your people, my people - must lunch - Mwah. Mwah.

Overall, a very professional performance on Saturday. A fairly even first half, albeit a little scrappy, with us taking over total control in the second. The defence looked a lot more solid and I liked the pairing of Elphick and Lewis. The midfield did well, working very hard and, again, Davis had a tremendous game. Three great strikes from Matt and Clarkey.

Onwards and upwards. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/excited.gif" alt="" />
