STFC Press Release

I have to agree, BFR. Maybe we should get Gary C to plant the odd article in the Observer every time we feel we need a response?!

I'm interested that it's felt that there's no urgency in agreeing a deal on a ground for next year. Every day that it gets closer to the deadline without an agreement in place the price is likely to go up, especially on Windsor's part if we don't have an alternative. I'd be looking to agree it at the earliest opportunity or at the very least, having a fall back position agreed other than Stag Meadow.

This was the story all along...Gary has left the observer today...a parting shot !!!! maybe..to stir things up...Slough & windsor continue to have good relations what ever you hear in the papers....

to be fair this time ..the negotiations surrounding the place we play next season, should be re negotiated and thats what I am sure Roy and Bernard are trying to do this ( a little more quietly than all over the papers) its like discussing your wages with everyone...and no one would like that...

Yes we should know but when the dal has been done and all is well for everyone to know...

Sorry, Chris, I disagree. It wouldn't have taken much for the club to say that TVS&L have now officially taken over and the first priority will be to negotiate a ground share for next season.

That doesn't break any confidence or weaken their negotiating position. It does however let supporters know what's going on. It would be a major mistake after years of poor communication from Martyn for those now in charge to fall into the same trap.

I agree on the TVS bit..would be nice to know but as far as money negoiations that should be kept in house...and dealt with in house...this would ensure the best deal was stuck for our club...

I'm not sure there is no panic. My feeling is that the best result could be to get in with Beaconsfield who have a more than decent facility and pitch and play in a different League. If there is any genuine interest in going anywhere else, it may be that that club need time to be ready. I'm not sure whether someone like Beaconsfield have the ground grading for Ryman Prem but it cant be far away and time would be needed to do the upgrade. Would a new club have to find somewhere else for their reserve side to play or resign it from a League. If Windsor is the prefered location and it is pretty much "done & dusted", then obviously no problem. If any other location is in mind however, then there surely is an urgency even if it comes from a prospective tenants point of view and not Slough's!

Their will get the best deal for Slough what ever...and I am sure meetings with peter simpson are already planed...The Observer have a good way to stir these things up....

I have no doubt, Chris, that Roy and Bernard will do what's right for STFC. It's not the job of supporters however to go chasing them for information. In their capacity as the current custodians of Slough Town Football Club they should be communicating with the key stakeholders of the club, i.e. the supporters.

I have a lot of time for both Roy and Bernard and I talk to Roy occasionally and he's always been open and honest with me (as I've been with him) but many people will be expecting information to be forthcoming without having to ask and to some extents I'd agree with that view.

Just to point out that the Observer does not seek to "stir matters up", only to keep the fans informed as best it can. You all want information and it is our job to provide it. The story in yesterday's paper was not a "parting shot", and I called Roy on Thursday, told him Peter Simpson's comments and gave him the chance to reply. As you can see he did not want to. It is surprising, therefore, to see the press release later that day. I do hope your situation is quickly resolved. Please use the Observer as a vehicle to air your views. I have always considered it as the best source of Slough Town news.

Best wishes to you all. It has been a pleasure. Up the Rebels.

Gary Chappell

PS: Radders - thank you for your kind words.
