Wivenhoe preparing to go to town

I see Wivenhoe has signed striker Darren Bethell on loan from AFC Sudbury. For his former club he scored 24 goals in 35 matches but has been more of a supersub for AFC.

There have been some games like Potters Bar where I felt we were heading for a fall.

 

Yes every game from here on in is going to be a cup final for both teams for all sorts of reasons. I think we might be able to shade it today but not without hard work from all of us - on the terraces and on the pitch.

 

If we can win this one it will be a platform to build on against Chatham and then Stamford. All three teams are on form at the moment which yes will mean it is going to be a hard fought game.

I reckon we need to keep an eye on the weather. Any more rain and it will be in doubt. Brimmo's game was off in the week.

You’re absolutely right. I got completely lost on my way to Wivenhoe too! I would have been ok had I not tried to follow the misleading directions from the programme notes. I think Steph probably did better by boat!

Let’s hope we can match the performance from the first game and not the cup game at our place.

By the way AndyETFC, shouldn't you update your 'Quiz Champion' siganture?!

At no point was the game in doubt, even the ref phoned twice to find out if a pitch inspection was required, but as usual the Groundsman of the Year had done his duty.
