Totally agree with your comment about Gooding, not up to the required standard.Fleets defending was farcical second half, credit to the Hereford forward line, every time they ran out our defence we were clueless, overall the difference was that they looked like a solid professional outfit who had total belief and commitment in what they were doing.PS also forgot to mention ability.PS Dean Beckwith apparently wants to move back down this way, maybe someone we should be looking at?

I would welcome Beckwith, as he brings a calm assurance to the defence. However, keeper excepted, we have problems all over the pitch; full backs who are limited to hoofed passes and poor attacking skills, midfielders with little creativity and strikers (McDonald excepted) who cannot score. Moreover, we lack passion and pride in our play.

We're a club desperately in need of some good news, anything at all. Because what's happening on the pitch is now clearly of interest only to a hardcore of 700 or so, and even they're only turning up because they always do!

98,000 at Barcelona last night! Allowing for the 150 or so Hereford fans the hardcore support was down to about 450 last night.

What hurt the most was the Hereford fans pouring scorn on the attendance when it was announced last night. Still we should be thankful they attended.

Gooding actually made the goal and he defended quite well blame the management for the defeat not the players 1 up them down to ten men we just didnt get at them 2nd half why o why sodje never came on earlier only liam can explain and johnsons better out wide then stuck in the middle full credit to hereford two great goals and they could have had four or five but for there poor finishing

Gooding ... defended quite well

Are you having a laugh?

He may have played a part the goal, but very nearly everything he did was wrong. Next home game watch him for a period of time, and If he plays the same as he did yesturday then you'll see all he is a useless ball watcher. Hes OK at the best of times in the air but is like a tractor on his feet. Everytime his marker or when he's meant to cover someone else all they will do is go out of his eyeline i.e behind him and call for the ball. Granted he hasn't got eyes in the back of his head and you can't follow the man all the time but this is basics which Gooding unfortunately cannot perform.

Please do something about him Liam, i.e. PLEASE CAN WE SEE PROVS

sorry dont agree his a much better defender then proths and i actually like to watch the game not single out individual players either when they were all below par, your quite welcome to watch one player for ninety minutes yyour probably one of those who slagged off smith before he came on too

The problem is not that Gooding is a poor defender, he, like Watkins is actually quite solid at the back. The real problem is neither have any aptitude when joining up with the midfield or find themselves in attacking positions, and neither are what could be considered decent passers of the ball.

And to think the best right footed defender/wing back (Provs) cannot even get on the bench.

Liam seems to have little time for Lee, and I would saddened but not be surprised to see his departure in the close season, along with Skins and Ports.

To be fair, even if we were playing well at the moment, a defeat at York, who are back to their early season form at present, wouldn't be unexpected. Similar things can be said of last night - after all, Hereford are second in the table. What was annoying last night was the manner of the defeat (i.e. leading 1-0 against ten men with an hour to go and ending up losing) rather than the actual result, which I expected anyway. What's cost us in particular is the failure to beat any of Forest Green, Scarborough and Crawley, all relegation contenders, in the previous three games.

Let's only hope we can reverse this trend against Tamworth, for any points from the Four-Fingered Stadium on Saturday would be a bonus. We need Jay back in midfield (hopefully his appearance on the bench last night indicates that he's either close to or has reached full fitness), and hopefully Ross and Paul's injuries aren't too serious. Those injuries didn't help last night, leaving us as they did with the bizarre sight of Bradley at left back at the end of the game, but not managing to force Wayne Brown into a single second half save tells its own story about our lack of attacking prowess currently.

Coincidentally, last night's defeat was similar to the corresponding fixture from last season, when Matt Lovell scored directly from a corner in the first half but we went on to concede two second-half goals to lose 2-1.

I watched Gooding about about four times when they were on the attack.

No I didn't, I think he's not to bad a player. He has his faults by who doesn't, except in the case of gooding who in my opinion has many more than any other.

Given the scarcity of decent crosses from the right wing of late, perhaps there is a case for playing Provs in a right wing back role, as he did both at Canvey and when he first joined.

As I recall, his right wing pairing with Gledhill was very effective and he slung in many great crosses for Roy and others to feed off. It was those crosses that earned him a reputation for having a cultured right foot.

The PC brigade will no doubt scoff at the idea, because it is SO radical, but why don't we try 3-5-2 for a couple of games.

Oh, I forgot, our tried and trusted? 4-4-2 line up is so effective and entertaining that the crowds are flocking in to see us play.

But why not try this line up:

Holloway

Gooding R Smith Watkins

Protheroe Drury McKimm Saunder( if fit) Jackson

MacDonald (if fit) Rawle

Provs and Jacko are genuine wing backs, so if needs be we could easily convert to 5-3-2 or 4-4-2.

With players like McCarthy, J Smith, Bowry, Slatter, Johnson, Skinner Moore and Sodje all fighting for places it would at least spark some interest in what has become a very stale product.

For goodness sake, let SOMETHING occur on the pitch to revive our interest.

Sadly I fear, barring injury to Gooding, we will rarely, if even see Provs playing for Fleet again. From the fans perspective, he has fallen out of favour with Liam, who presumably does not include him in his long term plans.

It is a shame that committed part timers are being eased out in the name of progress. The question is, is what we are getting real progress?

i was kidding although you couldnt do any worse then liam i personally think we are going backwards the football we are playing is far worse then under andy ford he could have made changes earkier tuesday we could all see what was going to happen in the 2nd half we sat on the 1 goal and it cost us

It seems to me that the whole team lacks confidence.as if they have had the stuffing knocked out of them,Looks to me as though there all scared to make mistakes.I know as we a team we make mistakes, but think at times we as fans have to remember we are watching the conference and not premierleague.

But there again if the mid field players are being by passed by the big kick up field, it must be really hard for them to get into the game when they are required and play decent football.
