I actually had a count up during the match as I was bored. 2 behind my goal were Manor management.

8 on the left flank ( injured or suspended players) then about 15 in the stand ( mostly officials.

It's quite sad, one because EM seem to have a couple of fervent supporters (one of whom admits he wasnt there) and secondly because Sawbo had no one there at all which is just as sad.

 

I walked past a park match yesterday and there were about 20 or 30 people watching, bigger than some of the crowds in our league.

The official record for the Essex Senior league is ...0.... for a league match between East Ham United v Brentwood that was, in fact, the very last game at the Ferndale Sports Ground, though at the time, no one actually knew it. The day after the game, Reuben decided that it would be the last game at a ground which is now a housing estate. The " gate" opened at 1.45 and the poor chap stood there until 3.15 when he gave up without a single person either entering , let alone, paying. So the only persons in the ground were the players and , with Official passes, Reuben Gane and Ted Whatmough of East Ham United, The Chairman and Secretary of Brentwood, One Press Photographer and Mrs League Treasurer plus, and the reason why I know all this .....me !

That is a very sad tale. No surprise East Ham eventually merged with Barking.

Indeed, this is a very sad story. Many thanks for taking the time to give us this info and so answer the question regarding lowest ESL attendance.

I do not think that the ESL clubs deliberately issue a lower gate figure - at many of the grounds this season, there has been only the one entrance, where adults, OAPs and juniors all go through the same gate, sometimes without a turnstyle.

 

This means that there are three different prices in operation. I would take a guess that the clubs add up the gate money and then divide by the adult charge - this of course gives an artificially lower gate figure, although the actual money taken is still accounted for. And not every club have entrance tickets, so a true gate is simply not going to be possible in terms of numbers inside the ground.
