an excellent win here against a lively stansted confident from their victory on sacred urchin soil a few weeks ago...

 

two from drakey and holland (second half sub for burbs) could have had a hat trick but the bedsted keeper decided to stake an england place with some superb saves...

 

great turnout...(150 of ours) truly the worse pitch I have ever seen (full credit to the oppo officials for getting it ready ably assisted early doors by el tel and jonno) and very nice friendly welcoming people...thanx to them all...

 

larfs of the day....treeboy found a 'megaphone' and the lino told us all that he 'didn't give a toss what we thought'

Which did vary as UU arranged for a seat n the second half, thanx for that, mind you obstructed view, I'm thinking of asking for a refund!

A usual great turn out of Urchins invaded Plane country and a nice little village as well, full credit to one and all on the early morning pitch work.

To be fair MC only had one save to make but the young lad Mercer was threatening to thread the balls through our defence but they held firm.

My MOM Danny Cowley did not put a foot wrong, well done mate and ably assisted by others who all played their part.

What can I say about Drakey that has not been said before, a complete livewire and surely a matchwinner on any day, the competition for places is now very strong, mind you it's a nice headache for the JAPS.

Quick metion for the youngster in the bar who when I asked who she was the reply came back, I've come to see my Grandad! Yeh it was Olivia, Tony Mercer's granddaughter, 7 months' old and ably assisted by mum Toni, it was nice to meet you and you are always welcome at the 'ol Stadium.

Great performance on a pitch just playable, but made so as I understand it by the Urchins faithful, which is just brilliant. Darn cold, but that didn't seem to affect the desire of the lads to play good football.

 

The first half was exhibition stuff, with great passing, albeit not masses of chances created. Still, Drake and Burbs looked good, Danny Cowley was unpassable, and Tiffin was his usual lively self. Second half we went a bit quiet and Billy H could have upped his tally for the season quite considerably, but the job was done effectively.

 

2 -0 another clean sheet, defensively we looked solid and it was good to see P Golby back on the field of play. With the Wabbey and Burnt'em results going our way, the prize is in sight, but I would expect a lively encounter this evening provided Barkingside's pitch isn't frozen.

 

Great entertainment after the drive from West London and another superb showing from the Hornchurch faithful. Credit to Stansted for trying to play football too, I didn't see many fouls and on a pitch like that, it's commendable.

 

Good luck to the chaps tonight, sadly I'll be stuck in a works function, much to my annoyance!
