Redbridge survived two early attempts, one from Asa Pamplin which was saved by Wakefield and the other when Finney moved up to turn a cross from Adetayo into the path of Gill, whose shot rebounded off of Burton.. The only goal of the match came following a good build up from Marler and Gill, with Pamplin setting up the move, which ended with a free kick just outside the penalty area. Redbridge pulled everyone back into the wall, Gill shaped to take the kick, but left it for AYO ADETAYO, whose hard and low drive found its way into the net through the massed defence.

Pamplin went close with a neat flick and Adetayo hit a shot narrowly wide, whilst an Adetayo cross from the right was scrambled away by Bailey. Paul Golby nearly got onto the scoresheet, running through from the inside left position, beating Julius and then swerving his shot wide of Wakefield, the ball then running just wide of the far post. Redbridge were rarely a threat in the first half, the best effort coming when Charlie Bull almost broke through on the left, his shot being saved by Hickman. A similar Bull move shortly afterwards ended when Wightman tackled.

Julius twice played good balls along the right wing, but Golby was on hand to intercept on both occasions. With the ground noticeably hardening up after the interval, Redbridge came more into the game, with Hickman making the save of the match, when he fingertipped a hard drive onto the bar, and then dealt with the corner in fine style. Hickman again save a possible break through with a quick dash outside the area to clear from Ebdon, and at the other end Wakefield came twenty yards outside his area to kick clear when Gill was played through by Pamplin. When a free kick was awarded 35 yards out, Adetayo dummied and Danny Gill hammered the ball hard through the defence and into the net, but the referee had signalled an indirect free kick, and the goal did not stand. Pamplin nearly added a second when Mensah’s intelligent long pass out of defence fell behind the Redbridge back line, and Asa raced through and homed in on goal, with Wakefield doing well to block the shot and turn the ball out for a corner. Gill went close with a good first time shot, whilst Pamplin used his experience and control to slow the pace down as Urchins played out the final few minutes to gain their first ever win in the Capital League.

i have heard that if we get any snow in the south east it will just be light showers later today/tonight

surely it is in stansteds best interest to get the game on saturday when there will be 150+ urchins rather than a tuesday night in a few weeks when we have wrapped up the league and prob take 50+

they would lose 3-500 quid on gate receipts + however many thousands in the bar/food outlets!!!
