I saw him a couple of years ago entertaining guests at chelsea . serving drinks etc . 59 is a young age to die. A great player in his day. He's probably with his old mate peter houseman another great of the chelsea 70s side.

PO was one of the greatest players of his generation at a time when football players were hard drinking working class heroes....the kings road suited peter to a tee..

I have to agree with Uncle, one of many great players from our generation, and Pete will be sadly missed, didnt know him but felt I did like some we have lost in the last few months.

 

As I am typing this the England game is holding a 2 minute silence for Peter and Ron Greenwood R.I.P fellas

I remember seeing him play in a Spurs v Chelsea game at White Hart Lane in 71/72.

 

Unfortunaltley for him he only played about 20mins. He went up for a high ball with Mighty Mike England and England came down on top of him flattening the poor fellow.

 

I used to work with a guy who was a good friend of Osgood's and used to spend weekends at Ossie's place down in Hampshire ( I think he had a pub). He reckoned he was a nice genuine guy.

 

Another of them great heros of the Life on Mars days has departed us prematurley......... Bestie, Bobby Moore, Billy Bremner, Emlyn Hughes, and Jeff Astle to name but a few. Him upstairs in certainly putting a strong squad together.
