Just nicked this off the Slough forum and as its a bit quiet on here today thought it could be a good topic of conversation on here.

 

How has the season been for you so far.....

 

a) Are we above or below your expectations?

 

can we still gain promotion/avoid relegation?

 

c) Who has exceeded expectations in the Ryman Premier?

 

d) Who has under achieved in the Ryman Premier?

 

e) Best experience of the current season/most satisfying result?

 

f) Favourite new ground visit?

 

g) Opposition player you wish you had on your books?

a) Are we above or below your expectations?

Over the whole season, slightly below. But the way we are playing at the moment is above what I would have expected at this stage of our comeback to the Conference. There has been a massive improvement since xmas.

 

can we still gain promotion/avoid relegation?

Avoiding relegation a cert and we won't go up this year.

 

c) Who has exceeded expectations in the Ryman Premier?

Sides like Walton & Hersham who I expected to be around the bottom of the league.

 

d) Who has under achieved in the Ryman Premier?

Billericay. Worthing and Fisher should be miles clear of the rest as well.

 

e) Best experience of the current season/most satisfying result?

Winning away at Dons.

 

f) Favourite new ground visit?

Kingsmeadow

 

g) Opposition player you wish you had on your books?

Hunter at Billericay or R.Butler at Dons

a.) I would have been happy to stay in this league this season, and make a promotion push next season, so I think the club has matched my expectations.

 

b.) Can't see us being relegated now, think we will finish around about 13th/ 14th.

 

c.) East Thurrock have exceeded my expectations - promoted last season and are 'sitting pretty' at the moment

 

d.) Have to agree, Billericay. A lot of money flying around, yet not in the playoffs or above. Also, AFC Dons - I must admit, I expected them to gain promotion.

 

e.) Has to be AFC away - our 'Maidenhead' of the season!

 

f.) 'The Fans' stadium (maybe the result added to that!)

 

g.) That tricky little winger who came on for Braintree the other week - looked a very good player IMO.

a) A little lower then i had expected.

 

Think we will finish around the postion in wich

we are now, but im very confident that we are safe at least.

 

c) Hampton & Richmond Borough was shocked at how

well they where doing earlier in the season.

 

d) Slough Town thought they played some excellent

football when they came to hartsdown park, they

seem to be another club like us pull out these odd impresive displays and underacheive the rest of it.

 

e) Hampton & Richmond Borough was a excellent game, im guted i had to work on the day of the AFC Dons game, as im sure that would have been

there instead.

 

f) Have only been to Staines, East Thurock & Bromley this season, ill go with Staines wasnt a bad ground and the club house was nice.

 

g) Hmmm tricky one? The ETU center back dont know

his name but he was the bald guy he looked solid in the air, could tackle and had a fair bit of pace.

 

The most impressive center back i have witnesed in a while his composure at the back was second

to none.

Achievement-was hoping for mid table and a nerveless season without relegation worries-did not get that, and disappointed with lack of longer cup run.

 

we will avoid relegation, but even if we won all our games we would only get 70 points which is probably about 3 points too few for playoffs

 

exceded expectations-Waltham and Hersham- i remember last years cup defeat and CK half time speech that if the side did not do better-'some of you will be playing this lot next season'-many a true word !!! (we were two leagues apart last season )

 

uder achieved _Wombles albeit its not over yet for them

 

best team-Staines-oddly enough- i thought they played better in our away defeat-they really dominated that game.

 

best experince-Maldon at home-a crowd of over 1000 and the Gate at HDP-we thought it would never happen

 

best ground-Staines as it was a nice summer evening and also Windsor and Eton(twice) as i can keep my wife happy shopping in Windsor.

 

best player-Guest of Folkestone albeit now with Welling.Did not see the Braintree winger who 'turned the game'

Thanks for the compliment, though as a supporter of a club who has been put through the mill and forced into groundsharing in recent times, I'm sure you can agree that homeless Slough maintaining status at this level of football is the best we can achieve at the moment.

We all know about that, we are very lucky to be in this league let alone to be still running as a football club. I am sure that the tides will start turning and Slough will get their football ground back and will be a team that i think should be, which is play-off contenders. Remember good thing always come out of bad.
