Red Card Fiasco

What was the Referee on today ?

There were several bad fouls but he failed to get his card out until a decision which was just crazy.

Bryan Hammatt on his second one - 2 - one with the keeper ( both of which he failed )was stopped by the keeper. No Foul, just a good save or poor finishing, depending on your view.

The Ref not only blows for a foul but produces a Red Card. I would think there are about 200 people behind the goal who would assist if the keeper made an appeal against a direct Red.

 

Good win for the Town, keeping us second, but, one question.

At 3 - 0 up against 10 men, why do we withdraw our forwards and bring on 2 ( small ) midfield players ? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

Forbes,the new striker who we signed from Thurrock, looked the part.Took his goal well,looked quick,but i'll reserve judgemnet until he's played few more games.(I remember Ndombe looking the part on his first outing <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />)

 

It looks like our form is returning bit by bit.Negus and woodward as wing-backs seems to be working well,as does the three centre backs.Stevens looks like a natural holding midfielder.Rudi scores his twenty third of the season. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

Nyman must feel unlucky to be dropped to the bench after the decent agme he had last week.He and morgan were put on up front for the last ten (Smithy an unused sub again <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />)

 

Overall a good win.The sending off of the Arlesey keeper was one of the worst discisions i've seen in football.Hammett was clean through one-on-one with the keeper.He overrun the ball and the Keeper effectively tackled him and won the ball with his foot.How the ref gave a penalty and sent him off, i'll never know.Until recently,Town had never been awarded a penalty that i had'nt appealed for.Now we have had two in consecutive games. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

 

Did anyone see the 'clash of heads' by Rudi at the end??

That was one of the worse sendings off I have ever seen. Both benches, all supporters and the players all disagreed with the ref. In short, the keeper made a grat save. Jim even commetned that tp get a penalty from tat was embarrassing!

 

With regards to the subs, I did hear Jim say that he wanted Morgan and Nyman to play up front.

 

A good win in tough conditions. this was never going to be a good footablling game. Well doen to the Town.

Well, I only had one (large) brandy at half time. However it was for medicinal purposes as I was bl**dy cold in that wind. The wine is flowing nicely now so I think I had better sign off now before I get really insulting!!!!!

Oh I do Jim, & to prove it this is how the 3rd scenario unfolded:

Bryan is put through & I mean clean through one on one with the keeper, Rock Steady & I look at each other & both say at the same time....
"Here comes the hat-trick"
cue miss control & stumble (then the red card fiasco).
I sigh, Rock Steady sigh's but then (& this is where you need to take note) as enthusiactily as I could I shouted....

"Keep going Bryan son, it will happen"
(Wont tell you what Rock Steady's reply was to that though, but a certain millennium was mentioned)

Jim,you're way out of touch on this issue,believe me.

 

Its hard to support something that you feel is hindering and negatively affecting the teams performance and success.To say nothing, would be to show a lack of passion and a lack of confidence in our own judgement AND a lack of real SUPPORT for the club we love.

 

PS...No one is suggesting that Bryan is not a great bloke or a good footballer with a proven goalscoring record,or that he doesn't give 100% every game..

Come on Jim evidence please, when Have I ever "Slagged off" any player on here?

In fact I posted after the Boreham Wood game how Bryan run himself into the ground & was one of our best players.

I may express my opinion, both negative & positive, but is that not what this forum is here for?

I was withuin 5 yars of the incident. nearer than the referee and the bench. if there was a clash of heads it was entirely accidental as Rudi merely turned round after the Arseley player made a lunge at him after the ball had gone. The opposition player went down as if poleaxed and the bench's reaction was disgraceful. Saying that Rudi had "headbutted" their man.

I know that feelings were sore following the sending off of the goalkeeper in clearly the worst refereeing decision I have seen in a long time but to seek to get an opponent sent off is the lowest of the low.

So just who is "slagging who" off here ?
From my point of view regarding Mr Hammatt,( and Mr Paul for that matter ) I have noted several times that I think he /they is a good player, BUT, not a good leader of the Town attack. He would be better playing off a big forward.
With regard to yesterday having 3x 1 on 1's with the keeper and making a mess of them all just highlights his total lack of confidence, which perhaps a short break from the starting line up may assist. ie come on when we are a couple of goals up and the pressure is off.

Still feel tratment of Hammatt is OTT but there you go we will have to agree to differ.

 

Also stand by opinion that people are too quick to criticise either plyers, or fellow supporters, or Managment, or workers ...

 

Perhaps we should all stop and think a bit.
