Blaming the keeper for any timewasting is missing the point. Craig would have done the same.

Our problems are much more complex.

Liam said on RK that we lacked flair, but showed a lot of hard work, committment and endeavour.

Sadly, flair players do blow hot and cold, and frequently dissappear for parts of a game. Then do something outrageous and score or create a goal.

They can be frustrating to have in your team at times, especially when they have an off day, but when they on song, boy are they devastating.

Unfortunately, in spite of what Liam says, we have little room in the team for any more flair players,as we already have Jukebox, and to be honest, would we have progressed as far as we have done with a team of unreliable flair players or steady grafters like we have?

Not to forget that Charlton were at home; so were Gillingham.
Add to that the long journey for Scarborough and it was always going to be a low turnout.

As for the match - dire. Absolute dross.
Cost me a £25 five-fold.

Luckily I have 5/5 going on Bolton tomorrow & Hereford monday.

Tomorrow night, 'Matthew', I'm going to be a Hereford fan.

Time wasting - I said of somesort as I don't know what the ref. would give in that case, but does anyone know what the ref would give when he books the keeper for sleeves being rolled up. (I'm not joking by the way, if you're a keeper with your sleeves rolled up you will be booked by a very persistant ref.)

Funnily enough, during a goalkeeping career spanning over 15 years, i never got booked for timewasting, though, god knows, I did it in almost every game we were winning. Usually by kicking the ball out of play so hard it ran for about 80 yards, or over a garden fence!!

Got booked for serious foul play and foul and abusive language to refs a few times, though!!

Weren't you in goal for Springfleet Albion ? I don't remember winning many games when I played.....or had you grabbed the glory & moved onto higher things by the time I got there ?...and I don't think the six second rule existed then !!

Cheers,

It was the 4 step rule in those days, Hirsty. But keepers were allowed to pick up back passes - of which I got shedloads, I remember some were mis-hit shots from our midfield stars!!
And you are correct, Springfleet certainly didn't win many games. Most of my timewasting was to hold on to a badly deserved draw!!

The referee will give an indirect free kick from where the goalkeeper picked the ball up I think.

Also as I found out today, he'll give a free kick for obstruction. Luckily I was the only one on the pitch who heard the referee say it was indirect, so when it flew past me with my hands by my sides I thought my team was gonna knock me out. The look on their faces though was priceless, makes a 1-0 win even sweeter

With the crap, home team refs we had in our days, he would have given that as a goal.

I was booked once for deliberaltly handling the ball outside the area whilst punting the ball upfield with a gale force wind behind me.

As most of my bombs were landing in the oppo's 18 yard box I had no need to steal another yard.

The ref, who also happened to be a member of the home team club, who was 60 yards ahead of me clearly thought differently, booked me for the handball and very nearly sent me off for arguing my case.

Pillock.

What happened to Bowry yesterday? He had a real nightmare game - even his normal well thought out passes were going astray 75% of the time.

He wasn't at his very best, certainly, but I don't think he had a 'nightmare'. Anyway, everyone's allowed an off day, and Bobby's had very few this season.

Of course, some astute observers on this forum have proclaimed him 'crap'.

Hopefully, this sort of arrangement will be much easier to achieve once the more attack-minded Jay returns.

There's no conclusive proof of this at the moment. Since Rawle returned, Charlie and Luke have only started up front together once (i.e. away to Cambridge United). Of course, this is owing to Charlie's injury, but with Rawle and Sodje now also available it's hard to know what Liam's preferred front pairing will be when all four strikers are fit.
