crap really crap, we just didnt attack and were scared to go forward.

Watkins wont make in the premiership if he bottles it all the time

the attendance was low maybe because it was cold but tuesday going to be colder and after today it could be 800 or so.

I thought it was the worst game I have seen this season, but I was not at Boreham Wood. To be honest I don't think Liam will let the players get away with playing like that and we will some changes for tuesday night. We just stooped down to their level and played a rubbish game. To be honest and look at the bright side, a few seasons ago that was us going away and hoofing hoping for a point against a mid table side to help us in our relegation battle. Scarborough look to be in a dire state and by todays performance, I think that they could be in real trouble come the end of the season. Bring on Tuesday and an improved performance.

Not to forget that Charlton were at home; so were Gillingham.
Add to that the long journey for Scarborough and it was always going to be a low turnout.

As for the match - dire. Absolute dross.
Cost me a £25 five-fold.

Luckily I have 5/5 going on Bolton tomorrow & Hereford monday.

In fairness to Liam, he was quick to come on the radio soon afterwards, made few excuses about the poor performance, the thrust of his comments were that we lacked flair and creativity.

His 2 main substititions were also made in time to give Jacko and Luke sufficient time to impact on the game - which sadly they couldn't.

To Scarborough's credit, they didn't resort to blatent time wasting or fouling - no bookings is a testament to the passion that wasn't evident during the game.

I was also very glad I made the decision to sit down today. With the sun in my face and sheltered from the wind it felt like spring..............until I moved to the clock area with 2 mins to go then absolutely froze.

And a first.... the lino in front of the main stand wearing a baseball cap!! class.

Oh well....look on the bright side.....

a) a nice sunny afternoon

B) we didn't lose ( we may have done had Redfearn's free kick been 3 inches lower !)

c)...I can't think of a "c" (no jokes please !)

That's life I suppose...even Chelsea are crap occasionally !!

See you next Tuesday.....!

Regards,

Boreham Wood are now in the Semi's of the FA Trophy.

This is it boys midtable mediocrity take it or leave it.

I'll take it thanks as at least now we have improved somewhat. Think where we could be now, fighting for relegation perhaps?

Try telling me that if we hadn't of got a goal right at the end then it wouldn't have been worth it. Okay so the team appeared to have no idea but Scarborough stiffled us and did the job they came to do and got a point.

The trouble is some of you seem to have dillusions of grandure as you thought we may make the play offs, we never were. We're too inconsistant. You can follow the line of your White Van Nistleroy's and say "we should be doing better" but when have we evr done better at such a high level? The conference is now a different level to what it used to be since we left. Okay I agree it is a poor league but that's based on what exactly? When Yeovil, Chester and Barnet went up? Well they all walked away with the league the same as Accrington seem to be doing now.

All I have to say really, sorry its not negative or it isn't ultra serious nor is constructed very well but I just what I think with out an agenda against anyone and based on what I saw.

The c) could be Jacko's return, for this gives us a more balanced team instead of playing someone who isn't a natural winger (i.e. Slatter) on the left flank. It was quite noticeable in the first half that Rawle was getting dragged out wide an awful lot.

Most of the team played reasonably today, with no-one really having one of their very best games. McCarthy as sponsor's man of the match was probably fair enough - it was always going to be a defender anyway. A draw was probably about right, although Scarborough came closer to nicking it, what with hitting the bar and having one cleared off the line. Tuesday's game made today's look entertaining though, if any of you can believe it.

A win on Tuesday is even more desirable now, particularly since the following game is at the Shay and we never get so much as a point there. As Harry says, we must be realistic - mid-table is about the highest standard we can aspire to at present.

P.S. A shocking attendance today, particularly bearing in mind the ongoing free tickets for schools initiative. It just goes to show that, at present, the Friday night games will provide a short-term financial boost, but don't look like expanding on our hardcore fanbase.

The play wasn't exactly helped by a greasy and bobbly pitch, combined with a swirling cross wind that did no favours for any player trying to play a 40-50 yard pass across the field.

To that end our more direct style of play came as no surprise - nor was it a surprise that it didn't work.

Unfortunatly we are not yet good enough or experienced enough to have a plan B.

Boring, boring, boring...

...no vision, time and again both Sodje and Rawle were drawn out to the wing leaving no one in the middle. Just like Essandoh, when he played for us. On a day when the wind was gusting in all directions, we play it in the air. Any no brainer would have the sense to play it on the grass.

More of the same on Tuesday please. Will I be there, yes. But, only because I'm a season ticket holder.

To quote Brian Kilcullen from not that long ago.'It may not be attractive, but it is effective'. Err! I'm not so sure.

Which is why Liam probably prefers Charlie Mac and Luke as his preferred strike partnership, as both feed off each other and are rarely dragged out of postion wide on the flanks.

Both also like to run at goal through the inside left and right channels.
Certainly Moore looked a more troublesome striker than Sodje, proving that strength and power isn't the be all and end all. You also need subtlety and vision, which Moore has in abundance.
Is Liam under pressure to play his loan signings over contract players?
It sometimes feels like it.
I would not be surprised, however, if Moore and and Rawle started on Tuesday

One classic example of our tactical naivity and lack of spacial awareness on the pitch:

Scarborough keeper prepares for a goal kick, on the left side. All 20 outfield players stand on the left half of the pitch.

Keeper swaps the ball to the right side before kicking - all 20 players, like a flock of sheep move as one to the right side. WHY!!!!

For God's sake, let us speread out and use width!!

What is the point in having wide midfielders playing 20 yards in from the line, compressing the midfield 4 into a 35-40 yard area. No wonder we get bogged down in midfield.

Get the wide men hanging onto the touchline, get one of the centre midfielders (Bowry) play deeper, (in front of the back 4 ,even), and let the other push forward.

At the moment our tactics appear to be drawn up on a table bar football game - all in a line, all moving left or right following the ball.

We need to be MUCH better than that.

Am I right?

I agree with a lot of what you say Harry, but there is a but,A very big but in my opinion, and that is I pay £25 a game to get in along with my girlfriend, and probaly will carry on doing so as i have been a life long supporter. But and here it comes the big BUT, all these new fans that the club are trying to attract will they????? again like you not trying to be negative but realistic

Something I've wondered myself but it's not schoolboy stuff. I've seen it happen at Upton Park as well, if fact is was Chelsea doing just that when the Hammers beat them 1-0 during the relegation year. So there you go
