My understanding of the train station name is as follows;

 

Developers want it called Ebbsfleet , Eurostar want Dartford International.

 

Draw your own conclusions on why we might be considering the name of Ebbsfleet FC. We must petition as much as possible on the name of the station.

I will be personally lobbying my contact at Dartford BC. I encourage all to make themselves heard.

 

To me Ebbsfleet makes pefect sense for us , and it ties in nicely with our location.

PS. All you fans living in Swanscombe / Greenhithe do you want the station called dartford International, or something more inkeeping with our locality.

Make yourself heard , you have some excellant independant representatives on Dartford council, whom find themselves in a fortunate position in a finely balanced council chamber.

Let them know your views.

IN DECEMBER 2005, AN ALL STAKEHOLDERS MEETING TOOK PLACE AT THE RECTORY IN NORTHFLEET - AS TO DECIDE UPON THE OFFICIAL AND SOLE NAME FOR THE CTRL STATION IN THE EBBSFLEET VALLEY.

EUROSTAR WERE THE ONLY STAKEHOLDER WHO WANTED THE STATION NAME TO BE KNOWN AS DARTFORD - NOT BECAUSE IT IS TECHNICALLY WITHIN DARTFORD BOROUGH (ALTHOUGH 2 OF ITS CAR PARKS ARE IN GRAVESHAM AND WILL HAVE A DA11 POSTCODE) - BUT IT WAS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE DARTFORD CROSSINGS.

EUROSTAR'S PARENT COMPANY (LCR) WANTED IT TO BE EBBSFLEET OR ALTERNATIVELY GRAVESEND (FOR THOSE FROM WELL OUTSIDE THE AREA, IT IS ALL GRAVESND REGARDLESS OF "VERY "LOCAL" SENTIMENTALITY.

THE MEETING OF DECEMBER 2005 CONCLUDED THAT EBBSFLEET INTERNATIONAL WILL BE THE OFFICIAL AND SOLE NAME FOR THE STATION, AND THAT THE NAME 'DARTFORD' HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN PERMANENTLY.

THERE HAS BEEN (SURPRISINGLY) NO PRESS RELEASE FOR THIS CONFIRMED FACT, HOWEVER, YOU CAN GET CONFIRMATION FROM THE EUROSTAR PRESS OFFICE, LCR, OR GRAVESHAM OR DARTFORD COUNCILS.

THE MAJOR PROBLEM FOR THE ENTIRE EBBSFLEET VALLEY PROJECTS ARE CLREAR TO BE SEEN.

THEY CRISS CROSS 2 BOROUGHS - HAVE 2 SEPARATE COUNCIL TAX - HAVE 2 SEPARATE STD PHONE CODES - 2 SEPARATE POSTCODES - YET THE ENTIRE SITE FALLS WELL INSIDE THE GRAVESEND URBAN ENVELOPE.

WHATEVER HAPPENS IN EBBSFLEET OR EASTERN QUARRY, THE FACT REMAINS THAT GRAVESEND WILL CONTINUE TO BE KENT THAMESIDE'S LARGEST AND MOST POPULOUS TOWN.

Indeed correct about the station name. ( I should speak to contacts before posting rather than after). Dartford International and Kent Thameside look to have been dropped as suggestions. So leave your local councillors alone the job is already done.

 

Ebbsfleet International is just waiting for the i's to be dotted and the t's crossed.

You keep banging the drum for that name but I don't see it happening. The club have said they would only change the name if someone offered a significant amount of money, is anyone going to offer us a lot of dosh to change it to that? I think not.

The club didn't say that they would change the name if paid to do so.

 

The club did say that they would change the name if it becomes apparent that the change of name would be likely to attract more finance.

 

There is a subtle difference.

A name change, if any, should be planned to co-incide with the move to our new stadium; which I would hope to be called, rather unadventurously, The Ebbsfleet Stadium.
