Team for Tonight

The first goal and the third goal.

When I say he had a bad game that does not mean I'm saying he is a bad player. All players play badly even my fav, Ross Smith.

Saying that it isn't nice to pick on a player if he has been in and out of the team is almost admitting you're in the wrong. Now your looking for excuss'.

I'm not saying anything about his personallity, he's probably a really nice bloke. Nor am I saying anything about the player he may become (I can remember John Terry making mistakes), I'm just saying that in that perticular game he was at fault for two of the goals.

Looks a bit Messi, as it was for Chelsea last night.

Mourinho: "What's Catalan for 'cheating'?"

Everyone else: "Don't know. What's Dutch for 'holding your face as if shot, collapsing, and generally being an irritating little Dutch git?'"

Two can play at Robben's game, eh Jose?

Obviously with my Chelsea conections I do feel for them but also I feel a little delight. Their new plastic fans now know the taste of defeat and can see it isn't pretty. This will happen, no team will go on forever and be the greatest. Every dog has his day and every empire eventually falls. Chelsea will win the European Cup, maybe not this season but they will win it, but I also feel they may one day taste relegation again.

Just glad I got out when I did.

Harry J Allstars said:Perhaps we should be playing the two Smiths along with MaCarthy at the back with Watkins an out and out left midfielder? Watkins is a very good tackler though and I realise that we would lose him in this area of the field.

This way we could play Rawle, Sodje and Charlie up front or any five with midfielders, Bowry and Mckimm could sit and distribute with Drury and Watkins on the wings and Slatter running from deep offering support to the strikers which he seems to do quite a lot. Plus we'll soon have to make room for Saunders, the peice of midfield bite we're missing at the moment.

Three at the back would be unwise against any side (like Accy with Roberts) who use the flanks well. Four at the back has always been my personal preference at this level, where players are less likely to have an Ashley Cole-like ability to play as a winger and full-back simultaneously.

As you say, Watkins' tackling is strong, but given that he appears more adept at this side of the game than attacking prowess, putting him on the left wing would probably be unwise.

Both the first goal and the third goal I think Smith was out of position. I remember Slatts headering the ball back trying to put it out for a corner.

Smith was too busy ball watching and got pulled out of position from what I could remember.

True or not, Jeff's right to imply that of all three goals, James was most at fault for the second, given that Mullin dispossessed him on the edge of the box and went on to score.
